The NibbleNet™ is a revolution in feeding hay to your equine friend. Meticulously researched and designed by Deb Rusden, who is constantly on the look out for ways to improve it, this hay bag has taken the equine world by storm. Yes, there are similar products out there...but none are made with the ultra high quality materials and workmanship. These hay bags are made to order, one at a time, right here in Florida, USA. They will not ever be outsourced and lose the quality that they are becoming so well known for. The workmanship and the materials do make these bags a bit more expensive but they are so worth it.
Your horse should get about 20% of his weight in forage every day. For the average 1000 pound horse that is 20 pounds of hay, unless you are lucky enough to have great pasture and your horse is able to be turned out 24/7. The NibbleNet™ makes it so easy to weigh and feed the right amount of hay. I fill mine and then hang on my barn scale to make sure my guys are getting their daily requirements.
The NibbleNet™ slows them down. This is so important, not just for his physical health, but his mental health. It presents a little bit of a challenge to your horse. It stimulates him more like grazing naturally would, and it makes your hay last longer and go farther. Hay has become really expensive, The NibbleNet™ helps save hay! The solid backing on these bags really reduces the amount of hay that falls to the ground or stall floor. In this economy saving hay is on the top of my priority list!
These things are durable! Unless you have a horse that destroys everything he can reach. It is not intended to be a chew toy. Most horses, once they have it figured out, treat it as a feeder and don't bother it when it is empty. Some just have to push the envelope. You know your horse, so that is something that must be taken into consideration when deciding to purchase The NibbleNet™. My oldest NibbleNets™ are going on one year. They are the original models and made in the Sunbrella™ fabric. Yes, by now they are starting to show some wear and tear...they hang on my paddock fencing 24/7. One horse even uses them as a butt scratcher. BUT...they are still in service, neither has broken, torn or been eaten. I have replaced the tiedown straps once, but they take a lot of abuse on a fence post. In addition to being durable, I feel that they are one of the safest hay bags on the market. A horse would really have to try to get caught up in one.
They are also very versatile in how and where they can be used. I use mine on the paddock fencing, in the stalls, in the horse trailer, outside the horse trailer, at the crossties, and I have the Trail Nibbler that I can carry behind my saddle for a mid ride snack when we stop for lunch. Some of our buyers have sent us photos of their very creative ideas to use them. Some have built pallets to secure them to for ground level feeding, some secure them in mangers...the possibilities are endless. Deb has hers secured to the barn wall by four hooks and clips, eliminating the need for the straps. They also come in many sizes, to accomodate any need.
Proper use of the NibbleNet™ is important. Horses will be horses, and safety is paramount. I am always available to answer any questions you might have about the product and it's use. It should be hung at or above the height of your horses chest. It should be secured top and bottom in a safe fashion. The bottom should not be too tightly tied down, you must allow some give for when the horse pulls on the hay, but should not be so loose that he can get a leg caught. If the bottom is left unsecured, the horse will become frustrated and the bag will constantly flip around. It should be cleaned and inspected periodically. Please take a little time to observe your horse using The NibbleNet™ the first time to make sure he understands the concept. It might be helpful to pull a few tufts of hay through the mesh front at first to get him started. This will be a new concept and he might need a little help getting started to avoid frustration.
There is a 30 day replacement warranty on The NibbleNet™ that covers materials and workmanship. Please understand that this warranty cannot cover damage done to the product by a horse. Most horses understand that it is a feeder, but there is the occasional horse that wants to use it for a chew toy.
So next time you are in the market for a new hay bag, give a good look to The NibbleNet.
I am not allowed to post a link to it because it is an outside link, but there is a short video on YouTube showing the NibbleNet™ in action. Search for Nibble Net with a space between the words on YouTube.
