The New Troll - Jakks Pacific Revives Trolls!
Most baby boomers remember the old troll. The old troll figurines, which were developed by a man named Thomas Dam in the early 1950s in Denmark, caught on like wildfire in the 1960s and 1970s. Trolls by the millions were stuck to refrigerators, slipped onto the backs of pencils, and even sewn into clotting. While the old trolls symbolized the freedom of the "Me Generation" of the '70s, both Gen X and Gen Y fans have coveted these objects as well.
Given the enduring appeal of these fun little pink and purple-haired creatures, DIC along with a company called JAKKS Pacific Inc., have decided to release new good luck trolls . These spiky but cute collectibles are expected to do brisk business with their key demographic. Indeed, the market for trolls across the globe is estimated to top out at more than $5 billion dollars a year, at least according DIC Entertainment.
JAKKS Pacific is a reliable toy maker that has had a hand in dozens of designs for sports toys, art activity collectibles, and plush dolls. The brand also puts out numerous trademarked toys and works with the World Wrestling Entertainment video library.
Part of the fun of owning trolls is that they are small enough to hide in curious places. Whether you are a fan of retro collectibles or a parent looking to surprise a child with a cute, inexpensive gift--be aware that the trolls are coming for you.
