Tired of those after hours calls from telemarketers?
They seem to always call when you're in the middle of something, whether it's dinner time, on weekends when you're at the ball game, or maybe during a movie you really wanted to see the end of.
I have a solution for you. It's called "The National Do Not Call Registry," and you can register 3 phone numbers at one time. When you do this via the internet, you register on the home page: https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx
The National Do Not Call Registry is only for personal phone numbers. Business-to-business calls and faxes are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry.
They send you one email for each of the phone numbers you registered on their site. You have to open up this email and click on the link they give you to confirm your registration of that number. If you registered 3 phone numbers (home or cell phone, can be either one or both), you would receive 3 separate emails that have to be opened within 72 hours of registration to confirm your registration.
You can also register by phone, by calling this phone number and following the prompts: 1-888-382-1222
If you registered by phone, you will I not receive a confirmation via email. You can call the same number you called to register and follow the prompts for verifying that your number is on the registry.
For more information, visit the Federal Trade Communication's web page for the National Do Not Call Registry located at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm
About the National Do Not Call Registry:
The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency. It is enforced by the FTC, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and state law enforcement officials.
The Federal Trade Commission will not drop any telephone numbers from the National Do Not Call Registry based on a five-year expiration period pending final Congressional or agency action on whether to make registration permanent. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/10/dnctestimony.shtm.
National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time.
