Is the theory of evolution based on logic and reasoning? You decide by reading some of its most basic claims:
1) Creatures change into different kinds of creatures over millions of years... except when they remain unchanged
2) One layer of earth is older than the one above it... except when the one above it is below
3) Creatures evolve slowly... except when they evolve quickly
4) Fossils and rocks are millions of years old because radiometric dating proves it... and we know radiometric dating works because we can calibrate it with the known ages of fossils and rocks
5) The present is the key to understanding the past... except when present observations indicate that creatures always produce the same kind
6) Humans descended from "ape-like" ancestors... and apes descended from "human-like" ancestors (how convenient)
7) Dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago... except for the ones which survived
8) Radiometric dating techniques provide dates we can be very confident in... except for the results which are way off and severely contradict our predictions
9) Layers of the earth are seperated by millions of years of time... except at the locations where we have accidentally found them connected by buried, vertical trees
10) The ability for the theory of evolution to change as new information is obtained should increase our confidence in it... just as the credibility of a witness in a trial becomes more trustworthy the more times his testimony changes due to new information being presented which he didn't know about
