Recently I discovered another great Gillette that was made in the early 1960s. The LADY Gillette is one beautiful machine. Yes, this razor was marketed incorrectly to ladies in the 1950 and 60ies and never sold very well. In fact the old Gillette Safety Razors never were a big hit with women. They are not properly designed to shave women's legs. However the LADY is an outstanding safety razor for men.

What is so great about the Lady?

Well to start the Lady Gillette has an extra long handle. In fact the longest of all the Gillette razors. It is a super speed, twist to open with a large knob at the tip of the handle. It is light weight yet strong and very comfortable to handle. The extra long handle give the shaver much more grip leverage and those men with large hands will appreciate the extra length. Ironic I know, but the Lady is worth a try. I think you will discover an outstanding treasure if you have the guts to go beyond the big boy.



The LADY takes all modern day safety razor blades. However I recommend the Feather Blades, made in Japan. They are the thinest and sharpest. You can buy them on line for about the same costs as less quality blades. Oh, by the way you can buy them cheap since the secret is not well known yet. But watch the prices climb as enlightened wet shavers continue to abandon their plastic face scrapers of today.
