The Importance of Buyer & Seller Feedback

This Guide is to help Buyers & Sellers in Understanding the importance of Feedback & the Seller Star Rating System.

One Important Aspect of a Transaction between a Buyer & Seller is the Feedback & Star Rating Responses!

Feedback, as stated earlier is an important part of every transaction involving Buying or Selling on Ebay.  For the Buyer, feedback in essential as it gives a Seller a good indication of the person that they are dealing with.  It is very helpful in a situation where the Buyer may need to Request Certain, Specific or Special Terms regarding a transaction with a Seller.  By reviewing the Buyers feedback, it may help a Seller in trying to evaluate the  Honesty, Character, and Buying Traits involving a Buyers commitment to a situation, or transaction.

For a Seller, Most Sellers will "Not" leave Feedback for a Buyer until the Buyer has left their feedback.  Positive Feedback is Very Important to a Seller.  It serves as verification that their items have been received and that the Seller has met the terms of the agreement.  Positive feedback also confirms tht the Seller has reached their goal to provide Quality products, Sales and Great Customer Service, Therefore, many Sellers do not give feedback until it has been received by them.  In a case where there may be issues or concerns of the Buyer regarding an item received, it is Always a good idea to first notify the Seller before giving negative or neutral feedback to allow them the opportunity to correct situations that are within their control.

**The Star Rating System**

The Star Rating System is set up to reflect the overall quality of a Seller's Handling of a Transaction in five (5) Specific Areas.

Item as described ~ Designed for the buyer to rate how accurate the description of an item was.

Communication ~ Designed for the purpose of reflecting the Seller's response time to written or verbal correspondence initated by the Buyer.

Shipping Time ~ Designed for the specific purpose of rating the Seller's Timeframe for shipping paid items within a timely manner.

Shipping & Handling ~ Designed to rate the cost charged by the Seller for shipping the items to the Buyer.

**AN IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE STAR RATING SYSTEM ~ As we all know, No system is 100% Full Proof!**

We would like to address what we feel are Three (3) Critical Areas of the Seller "Star Rating" System......

1)  Communication ~ The intent of this section is to rate the effective communication qualities of correspondence initiated by the buyer to the Seller.  Many times however, Sellers are unfairly rated in this area due to the fact that not all transactions require or involve written or verbal communication.  We understand that the "Star Rating" System does not provide a field for accurate ratings in this area if there has been no communication between the parties involved in the transaction.  The Buyer should have an option to check a section labeled "N/A" ~ (Not Applicable).  Meaning that the communication section does not apply since there had been no communication needed during the transaction.  Unfortunantely, Many buyers feel they must check a star in this area, so the give a low star rating because there was no communication with the Seller.  This we feel is a minor flaw in the Star Rating System.  Buyers should either leave this section blank, if allow by ebay, to give a fair rating on this area. 

2) Shipping Time ~ Buyers need to pay close attention to the Seller's state Shipping Time accordingly.

3) Shipping & Handling Charges ~ We truly understand a Buyers concerns regarding the possibility of inflated Shipping & Handling Charges.  However, this is "NOT" Sunset2253' Policy.  We offer numerous options for shipping services, and our prices are reflective of the USPS charges.  Even though our shipping charges state that they include handling charges which would cover the cost of materials, packaging and transport, "Sunset2253" has been waiving the additional chaarges and passing on the savings to our customers by charging the flat USPS rates according to the shipping service utilized in the transaction.  We also show the exact postage on "All" our packages.
