After many requests to put together a guide on this topic I decided this was long overdue.
So here we go, this will shine a little light on the Newer model marine issue Corpsman Assault Packs
and the Reconnaissance Assault packs. How they are alike, how they are different, and if they are worth
the money?

First and foremost the differences between the two packs to begin with, design wise... absolutely nothing! They are the exact same pack with the exception of a cardboard piece that sets in the middle of the main pack for extra medical supplies as shown below.

As you can see on the tag shown above thats where you will see the corpsman assault pack tag, and thats how you know which it is.... The recon assault pack has the tag on the first zippered area shown below:

In the top part of the zippered area there will be a stitched white tag that says reconnaissance assault pack, that's the identifying mark for this pack. So thats it... thats all the difference there is in the two packs, so dont be that one guy who pays an obscene amount of money for a pack with a recon tag when you dont have to. Your buying the same bag.

The two pictures shown above give you an idea of what the outside looks like, as you can see its larger than the standard 3 day assault pack.. why? Well because its meant for jobs that are longer and more demanding however dont require the full ILBE pack. This is sort of the middle man of the bags! It has the adjustable shoulder straps and an added wait strap for weight distribution, it also has MOLLE attachable sides and back as shown. One other nice addition is the zippered area in the very bottom for more gear, its a nice addition!

Shown above from left to right:
The first picture is of the tag.. its kind of blurry but yea there it is!
The second picture is of the front layer with the MOLLE adjustors on the outside, theres two sepreate zippered mesh compartments. Across from that are 4 zippered smaller compartments.
The third shows the center pack area, it has an additional two zippered areas and the center cardboard area with elastic stay downs and two velcro pouches.
Directly behind that is the back two mesh zippered areas with pouches directly behind them like the blackhawk bags have. The center area has the tag and see through zippered area.

The recon bag just doesnt have that center cardboard piece... as I said... other than that they are almost exactly the same bag!

I hope this helps you out with your future purchases! If you like the review make sure you check out all the ones to come at:  WWW.ZENUNDERGROUND.COM
