A new book was published entitled The Historical Cash Coins of Vietnam by Dr. R. Allan Barker (ISBN: 981-05-2300-9). This book covers the cash coins issued by Vietnam during the period 960 AD (time of independence from China) until 1945 (when the last cash coins were minted by Emperor Bao Dai). This book also has up to date research on other coins that were probably minted officially or as a semi-official coin. The text has every coin shown in exact size in color and with a corresponding black and white rubbings. The author indexed the rarity of all the coins so the collector can assess the coin's value based on its rarity. This book and the research behind it makes all other texts obsolete.
I have been collecting Vietnamese coins for over thirty years and have many reference guides (in several languages) but none of them cover this unique area of coin collecting. This book has really helped me to find better quality and rarer coins for my collection. It has been essential in aiding me in detecting counterfeit or fantasy coins. If you want to increase your knowledge and joy of collecting Vietnamese coins, then I recommend this book wholeheartedly.
Cover of Book:
The book is hard cover and about 390 pages and was printed in Singapore with a copyright 2004 (released in 2005). The printing method used was four color, direct to plate technology on 90 gram matte coated art paper. ISBN: 981-05-2300-9.
If you have any questions about the book, please feel free to contact me via the Ebay mail system. Always happy to hear from other collectors.
