This guide will outline the grooms role in wedding planning and preparations. Many grooms are under the asumption that the only real role they must play in the wedding is to show up, but many people and brides feel otherwise. The following responsibilitys are considered to belong to the groom.

One Year to Six Months before wedding:
1. Purchase engagement ring
2. Help chose date and wedding type
3. Start to plan guest list
4. Choose Best man and ushers or attendants
5. Begins planning Honeymoon
6. Begin plans for moving or housing arrangements
7. Begin to coordinate wedding day transportation needs

Four to five months before wedding
1. Begin shopping for brides wedding ring (if not purchased with engagement ring)
2. Complete details of guest list
3. Select his and mens attire
4. Finalize all honeymoon plans and pay deposits

Two to three months before wedding
1. Meet with officiant and finalize details
2. Work with parents on rehersal dinner details
3. Discuss details for paying for flowers ( Tradition states this is left to groom or grooms family)
4. Make arrangments for out of town guests

One to Two months before wedding
1. Make sure attendants are fitted for tuxes
2. Purchase gifts for best man and ushers
3. Pick up wedding rings

Two to Three Weeks before the wedding
1. Obtain Marriage license (with bride)
2. Reconfirm arrangements for out of town guests
3. Take care of change of address arrangements
4. Have your hair cut ( nobody likes that just cut look for pictures and if it is a little short, it can grow)
 
The week before
1. Support fiance and help with loose ends
2. Pick up and try on attire
3. Make sure attendants get their attire
4. Pack for honeymoon
5. Finalize honeymoon
6. Make sure rehersal information is received by wedding party
7. Place officiants fee in envelope and discuss with best man
8. Attend rehersal dinner
9. Get plenty of rest and take care of yourself

The Big Day!!
1. Be sure to eat
2. Allow plenty of time to get dressed and groomed
3. Give best man wedding ring
4. Dance, eat, drink and be merry
5. Thank all parents and guests
