When I was first introduced to the Grey Gardens documentary by the famed Maysles brother, I didnt quite get it. The DVD was borrowed from a friend on the east coast, so I had to return it. Trying to find it in chicago was impossible, so I turned to eBAY!!! There it was, and for a mere $30.00 I could own it. I needed to view it again, and share its complex and bizarre pictures to some of my professional, yet open minded friends. I recieved it from a friend for christmas, what a surprise, she was just as excited to see it as I was!! This is a slow moving at first documentary about Big Edie and little Edie Bouvier. Debutante ladies and cousins of Jaqueline Kennedy Onasis. Thru unexplainable events, and sad memories, these two once prominent women spent their last decade as recluses in a rotting East Hampton mansion. The complexity will draw you in, and keep you thinking, yet entertained each time you view it. It is $30.00 well spent, and the more friends you share it with, the more ideas and discussions it opens up, trying to figure out these complex, yet scrambled pair of women.
