I was perusing ebay recently when I noticed an Epiphone from my youth, a Crestwood/Wilshire, brand new and in the box. I almost placed a bid (it was up to $510) but called the Epiphone people instead. The guitar was a faithful rendition, albeit from China, and was made as an exclusive for Music 123. I went to their website and discovered that it was $249 including shipping. The Epi on ebay ended up going for $818 with $30 for shipping. I was upset as this person obviously took advantage of the guitar lovers and made an insane profit.
I purchased one from Music 123 and it was good quality, having been inspected at the Gibson factory before shipping, and played well with the controls and pickups working. Action was fine.
Please do what I do. If it looks to be too good, it probably is. The phone call to Epiphone was an 800 number and only cost me 5 minutes. ebay is fun, but there are scammers out there. Be careful.
