The TREO 700wx is the best mobile 5 Phone/PDA combination. Having owned many PDA/Phone combinations, this is the best Phone solution.
SCREEN DESIGN
The small screen makes for quick check access, i.e., checking yellow pages, bank accounts, flights, weather, movies, stock, not for great website reading. Perhaps owning various Utstarcom with 1/4 larger screens have spoiled me. However, if upgrading from a flip or slider type cell phone then the comfort level would remain.
SCREEN REAL ESTATE
Small, but... GOOGLE is on the screen itself, type in a number, person, business and without a third party application and I own dozens (I am sure we have put Handango's children through a semester of college...lol)
PHONE USE
Reception - The reception is excellent (loud and unobstrusive) in city areas of town and good to fair in rural areas. In the country, eventually calls can be made with the typical "can you hear me now? scenario.
Temperatures - My face did not feel like the sun was smiling on it, unlike many other PDA/Phones. Yes, even in North Carolina heat!
PHONE DESIGN
Best features - button on top of phone with on and off or vibrating option. calling switch. BRAVO BRAVO to the brain behind that sliding button.
CAMERA
As with everything with this phone, fast fast fast. No, not fancy with time stamp and such, but reliable, one click, one turn and waaa laa... and no, not for night time picture taking. Video is great for those few seconds shots.
OPERATING SYSTEM - WINDOWS MOBILE 5 - STABLE STABLE STABLE!
A fantastic marriage for the Palm type phone and Windows operating system.
The phone rarely needed resetting (and the company has owned four), even with the dozens of third party software. Wow, that can not be said with phones made for Windows.
MAJOR PLUS - VOICE RECOGNITION
Included with the phone...wow. I paid $50 for this for the Utstarcom's and other PDA/Phones.
TREO definitely did not compromise on features. For the price, even at retail, this phone is reliable, dedicated to internet and phone. Looking forward to a LARGER SCREEN and Windows Mobile 6.
BLUETOOTH
Problem-free with bluetooth with phone calls. Standard, even with expensive bluetooth headsets.
A third party software needed to be downloaded to listen to MP3's, You Tube, and et cetera. This will hopefully be corrected with Windows Mobile 6 and the next version of Bluetooth.
OFFICE ON THE GO
I frequently used WORD and EXCEL as on the go documents. Sycning was fast and correct every time.
MICROSOFT EXCHANGE
My company uses EXCHANGE to synchronize schedules and contacts. The TREO was flawless with this operation.
PROS
Reliability. On/Off button. Low learning curve. Ease of operation. Speed of Internet. Feels like a phone, not a toy.
CONS
Small screen. Windows Mobile 5.
OVERALL
Well-thought out and intelligent design for Phone use and quick Internet use.
