We started selling boat parts out of neccessary. . .we had a couple of boats we couldn't sell and decided to tear them apart and sell just the parts people needed for their boats.  New Marine/Boat Parts are very expensive and most people want good parts at a reasonable price!!  Plus, most people who own boats want to enjoy them when they have time and not have to spend a lot of time and money looking for quality parts. . .or cleaning, checking or fixing them!!  We spend the time looking for older boats that have been "lightly" used in fresh water. . .one good thing about living in North Carolina is that most people use their boats on fresh water lakes and not in salt water (which is much harder on the boat and the parts).  Then purchase them. . .spend all the time to take all the good parts off the "hull" of the boat. . .then we check all the parts to make sure that they are items we would want on one of our boats! : )  After deciding that they are in good condition, we clean them, paint them (if needed, always with a high tempature, ceramic engine paint that will last) and finally photograph them for the listing.  It is VERY important to us that all of our items are represented exactly as they are. . .that is why we continue to maintain a 100% Feedback rating.  It is great fun to send our parts ALL OVER THE WORLD. . .we have our items being used on boats in New Caldeonia to Japan to Ireland!  When you give people more than they expect it makes you feel great and we look forward to reading the feedback that people give us once they receive and use everything from an engine to a bronze screw! : )  If you are honest and upfront with people the transaction is successful and a lot of the time they contact us when they need other parts!  The biggest challange we have found is trying to find "good" older boats and arranging International shipping. . .my advise on the shipping is to make sure you check the measurements and weights, plus any additional customs charges that may apply going into that country!!  Sometimes it is hard to get an exact price prior to shipping for the customer and you never want surprises! : )  Also, we try to be helpful. . .if someone is looking for something that we don't have, we give them the names of other parts suppliers and feel that our expertise and advice should be part of our customers experience dealing with us!!  Plus, my husband loves talking about boats and we have developed several friendships with our eBay Customers.  It comes down to trust and giving people MORE than they are expecting. . .: )
