The Bean Bag Game for Speed and Agility

The only reason I call this the beanbag game is because when I learned to play it I played it with a beanbag.  It can be played with any item, a basketball, a soccer ball, a pillow; it can be played any item at all.

The game can be played with 3 or more people.  I’ll explain the game if it were to be played by 3 people.  You place the beanbag (or whatever object you decide to use) in the perfect middle between the two players in play.  You can start from standing or sitting position, or any other position you want.  The person not playing yells go and both players sprint towards the item in the middle, whoever gets to it first stays in the game, the person who doesn’t switches out with the original shot caller.  You keep playing until somebody has won 10 games, or whatever number you decide.  This game really helps increase starting time and overall speed.

If you have a huge group of people you can change this game up a little by numbering the people on each side of the object.  Each side would each have a player numbered 1, 2, 3, and so on.  The shot caller does not play until the game is over.  Both sides are teams, and each time a player gets to the beanbag first it counts as a point for his/her team.  The shot caller will call out a number of a member of each team.  The second the number is called both members try to get the beanbag.  The more people the harder and more intense the game play will be.  If the wrong person goes or makes it ¼ of the way before realizing the mistake their team is deducted a point.

When a team has amassed 10 points the shot caller picks a player from the losing team and switches with them.  The team version of the game not only helps with speed and starting time, but also reaction time and concentration.
