The Apprentice LA - Guide to Trump's New Apprentice
The sixth season of NBC's The Apprentice will still feature Donald Trump dismissing a cast of hopeful employees, but it will be filmed in Los Angeles rather than in Manhattan. The move to the West Coast is in part due to the increased number of projects in which Trump is currently engaged. By moving The Apprentice to Los Angeles, in addition to providing the show with a fresh look, show creator Mark Burnett sees an opportunity for viewers to gain more insight into Trump's unique world.
The fifth season of The Apprentice saw some changes to the boardroom. Regular advisors Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross were occasionally filled in for by Trump's children Ivanka and Donald, Jr. Both graduated from the Wharton School and are currently working for their father, with Donald, Jr. overseeing the development of ventures in Las Vegas and Chicago, and Ivanka traveling the country to scout out prospective investment opportunities.
NBC attempted to air multiple versions of The Apprentice in a single year, with back-to-back versions of Trump's reality show and a separate version of the popular show hosted by Martha Stewart. Ratings for Stewart's show were sub par, leading to its cancellation. In addition, after seeing ratings slide for the second airing of Trump's show, it was decided to cut back to a single airing each year so as not to dilute the brand image.
Donald Trump has built a name for himself in the northeast, particularly in New York and Atlantic City. To promote the The Apprentice L.A., the fifth season finale will be broadcast from the west coast. Trump is not stopping with Los Angeles, as he is signed through at least seven seasons, which may broadcast from Miami, Las Vegas, or Chicago--all locations that feature Trump properties.
