Digital information products are fiction and non-fiction writings that can be downloaded, viewed, and created on computers.  In this article you will learn about the different types of digital information (info) products, and where you can get them for free.

When people talk about digital info products they are talking about e-books, reports, and articles.  The difference between them is the size, e-books generally 10 pages plus, articles being one page, and reports in-between.  In saying that, there are no hard and fast definitions as the author usually will decide.

E-books
The words ebook and e-book are used interchangeably and is literally an electronic (or digital) version of a book. The term can also refer to a hardware device that is used to read digital information products (ebooks).  For the purpose of this article I will use the term e-book to mean individual work in digital format.

Popular e-book formats
     - Image files: This format can generally be viewed on all computers and are generally much larger than the other formats.
     - .PDF: These files require adobe acrobat reader to view.
     - .DOC & .TXT: - These are more easily editable and viewed with windows MS Word, and notepad respectively.
     - .EXE: - These files can only be viewed in windows, and sometimes require the user to be logged onto the internet to view.  Also note you may require an SP2 fix to view some .exe e-books.
     - .HTML: - This is a common web page format, viewable on your internet browser.

Advantages
     - Text can be searched.
     - Takes up little space.
     - Can be used with text-to-speech software.
     - Low cost distribution.

Disadvantages
     - Can be incompatible with some computers.
     - Can be hard on the eyes.
     - In some cases e-book can be hacked.
     - Care required in file handling to avoid damage or loss.

Private Label Rights (PLR)
PLR is where you have the rights to change the info product in any way that you desire.  Often you will find PLR ebooks where you can insert your own links in the ebook.  There are many PLR articles out there, and they are designed to be altered and then republished.  Duplicate content is frowned upon by search engines, article sites, and visitors.

Resell Rights
When an ebook contains resell rights it means that you can sell it for profit, and then your customer can also sell for profit.  Resell Rights are a huge selling point and make ebooks a lot more popular.

The most valuable resell rights are the ones that are limited.  For example, say the author only sells 100 resell rights, then there are only 101 people selling the product.  Whereas if the same ebook has full resell rights to all then the first 100 could sell to 10, thus creating 1,000 people selling.  Then end result with more resellers, the price/value of the ebook will generally decrease.

Where can I get Info Products for free?
There are many places you can get free ebooks.  Try using your favourite search engine to search for earn smart free ebooks is a good place to start.  There are also many free ebook directories which are easily found through your favourite search engine.
