This guide is for the coffee lover searching for a durable drip machine that will also make a great tasting cup-o-joe.
I have had my Technivorm for over a year now, and I promise you there is
a difference between the coffee this machine makes and the coffee that
comes from department store brands. My previous machine was a
Krups and it can't compete with this coffeemaker. I'm listing the
positives and negatives so you can get a feel for whether this coffee
maker might improve your mornings like it has mine.
The Technivorm Moccamaster
Positives
- Makes rich, flavorful coffee every time. If you have been
drinking drip coffee from any other brand name, you will notice the
difference.
- Consistently heats the water to 200 degrees Fehrenheit (for those of you who don't know, anything below 200 degrees does not make the best cup of coffee. Most department store coffeemakers (Krups, Braun, Cuisinart) do not heat water to 200.
- Has very few functions beyond heating water, which means it may outlive you!
- Is made of actual metal, not plastic painted to look like metal.
- Easy to use and clean up.
- Mine has a thermal carafe that keeps the coffee hot for a very long time.
- The heated water is dispersed into the grounds via a shower head type spray that thoroughly soaks ALL the grounds.
- Shipped from Holland and pretty dosh-garn hard to find, so
you'll likely be setting the standard with all your friends and family.
Negatives
- Does not shut off automatically.
- Has no timer function to set the coffee to automatic brewing.
- Carafe will not fit under the machine once you screw the lid on.
- The machine is (arguably) unattractive.
