I'm writting this guide because I have been looking at getting another Technics SL-1200 turntable, and there are some odd trends that needed pointing out in this very specific product area.  Another guide already says that the SL-1200s are  the DJ industry standard, no one can argue that point.  What I've noticed is there are a lot of people posting auctions for "DJ Kits" that have Technics tables, but they are SL-1300s or SL-1800s or what not.  These are great turntables for listening to records, but most are not for DJing. They may have no pitch control (the knob/slider that controls the speed that the platter spins at) or they may be belt driven (any DJ will tell you belts are bad).  Check vintagetechnics.info for a database that has important specs on all Technics turntables.

Sellers eager to make money may mislead you (sometimes accidently) and most will not refund money spent when you find out that it isn't what you wanted.  Bottom line is to do research before bidding.  Find out if the item is what you want.  That goes for everything online, but especially these fine turntables.  Please vote yes if this helped you.
