The Gallery Plus feature is especially helpful for items that need more visual aid. Items sold as Art or Collectibles benefit from this feature provided the final auction price or buy it now price covers the listing and gallery plus fees and leaves a profit for the seller.
However, I've seen many items listed with the Gallery Plus upgrade that don't fully take advantage of this feature. To make your gallery plus photo stand out, you have to upload a photo with the right dimensions.
The gallery plus upgrade is optimized for images 400 x 400px. Whether you upload your gallery photo using the Standard or Self-hosting option, make sure your photo is 400px on the longest side. Images larger than 400px look distorted when the cursor hovers over the free gallery photo in the search results. Images smaller than 400px don't fully make use of the gallery plus upgrade.
