Tahari- A Guide to Tahari & Fashion
It used to be that the name Tahari meant just one thing in the fashion world--Elie Tahari, a tremendously successful fashion designer who got his start in New York City in the 1970s. Nowadays, the name Tahari has expanded to include Elie's wife, Rory, who has launched her own line of clothing under the T21 name. Elie Tahari has made his name in fashion by designing well-fitted women's clothing that falls somewhere between casual wear and couture. His designs have typically been found at high-end retailers like Nieman Marcus or Barney's. Often his clothes could be found at a "store within a store," a section of the retailer's space devoted exclusively to his work.
Rory Tahari, on the other hand, occupies a sportier niche in casual wear. Her goal has been to bring more fashionable choices to items like shorts and sporty tops. She's had some success attracting the interest of celebrities like Heather Locklear.
Now that the two Taharis have combined forces to build an even more impressive fashion empire, shoppers have a wide range of choices when shopping the Tahari name. Fitted suits are a specialty of Elie Tahari, and he has been a proponent of clothing that allows women to look smart and sexy at the same time. Dresses and "fashion-forward" separates are another specialty.
For more casual occasions, Tahari items like mini skirts or sundresses might appeal. Regardless of whether you choose Elie's fashions or Rory's, you can be assured that the Taharis put a premium on quality.
