ABOUT ME

I have been a TY Retailer since 1993.  In addition to selling on eBay, I also own a Retail store.  In this Guide, I will share with you things about New Releases, Retired Beanies and other bits and pieces of info from an Authorized TY Retailer's perspective.

 VALUES:  Lately I have been getting lots of email from collectors asking the value of their Beanies.  The best way to determine the current market value of a Beanie is to just do a search for one like it in the sold items on eBay.   Best rule of thumb is to remember that an item is really only worth what you are willing to pay for it.

Beanie Babie collecting is still alive and well.  However, it certainly is not at the same level it was several years ago.  I still have loyal customers who buy one of every new Beanie from me each month.  I am finding that most of my customers just buy them because they are CUTE, WELL MADE and VERY affordable! People still love to give them as gifts to others or to children to just play with.  They are great learning tools for small children when teaching them about animals.    What other plush animal is so well made that retails for around $5.00?

TY, Inc.  has been making affordable plush items since 1986.  TY, Inc. is has always been and still is a Privately Owned Company (no stock available) owned by Ty Warner.

  TAG Information -

The tags on your Beanie Babies are a very important part of your Beanies value.  Without a tag the average beanie drops in value by 50% or more!
Beanie Babies have two types of tags: swing tags (also called "heart tags") and tush tags (those attached to your Beanies rear end!).  The tags have gone through many changes over the years have become known as "generations."  There are currently 13 generations of swing tags, and 13 generations of tush tags, a special Canadian tush tag, and the rare few Beanie Babies embroidered tush tags. 

- Mint Tags (The paper swing tag should be in mint condition still attached to the Beanie, not torn, no bending, no dents, no damage of any kind.
- Creased Tags (Means that is not really bent in half but has been creased or very slightly bent.
- Bent Tag (Usually completely bent in half or almost in half)

Sometimes you can get great deals on tags in less than mint condition.  If you are just collecting because
you love the item or you are giving it to a child, then the tag condition should not matter.

  TY CLASSIC PLUSH and TY Beanie BUDDIES -

I see many sellers advertising Classic Plush items as "Buddies" and vice versa.  However, there is a difference.  Both are plush items.  Both are much larger than TY Beanie Babies.  Classic Plush and Ty Buddies generally are around 12 to 14 inches.  Some are slightly smaller and some are larger.  (The Large Buddies and Jumbo Buddies can be MUCH larger.)  Always check the size which should be disclosed in the auction listing.  If you don't see a size and you are not sure, you can always email your Seller to make sure you know the size of the item you are purchasing.  The difference between the TY Beanie Buddies and the TY Classic Plush is that the TY Buddies were designed to match a TY Beanie Babie -- thus the name "Buddy."  The TY Classic plush don't match the Beanie Babies but are WONDERFUL plush toys.   There are a few Buddies that have been produced however, which actually do not have a matching Beanie.  Speculation is that at some point, TY will produce the "matching Beanie."  Both Classic Plush and TY Beanie Buddies are great plush items for collecting and are especially great for gift giving to children and even adults in the hospital, nursing homes, or someone who might be allergic to pets but want a HUG!  Enjoy the wonderful selection that TY brings to all!
