BUY QUALITY MEMORY FOAM -NOT THE TRICKS & WORD GAMES . LEARN WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK & HOW TO READ FEEDBACK. ASK WHAT THE DENSITY IS..
All memory foam is measured by 1 cubic foot. Ask what density the seller is selling. even if you think you know what it is. Some sellers use clever word games to make you think --you are getting a high density memory foam pad/topper/bed.
If they make up their own formula of measuring memory foam -like measuring by 2 or 3 cubic feet ---pass! You can not measure memory foam by 2 or 3 cubic feet is just scientifically impossible. They will send you half or one third --the density number, that you expect to get. .An add must read 4" 4lb density topper -not 4" 4lb topper.
If they create a completely new way to describe density. Like telling you they use a new firmness
rating developed to help the consumer when choosing the correct product to match their personal preference. Like measuring by 10lb and 20 lb , etc.You need to know that the rest of the world uses a density rating. This is another way to send you low density memory foam.
Ask the density. If they avoid answering this question (what density they are selling )do not think that this is an oversight. A famous trick is to hit you with all kinds of "other " information , that you did not even ask for and never answer the all important question that you asked which is ---"What is the density?" They might just repeat the thickness and not give the density. For example. you may ask..."Is this a 4" 4lb density ? " they may answer , "Yes, this is a 4" memory foam." They will just avoid the density question .
Density is what you pay for. If a seller is ashamed to answer this question -you can bet you will get almost foam- not a good density memory foam topper. If they have density -they are proud to say so!
Spend some time to educate yourself about memory foam
It is so good that you are reading this! If you were buying a car-you would look around. You will spend about 1/3 of your life in your bed. So choosing the right seller should be worth some of your time. I promise you that you will have the best comfort in the world if you get a good 100% visco elastic memory foam topper . You will not be happy if you buy tricky words and a cheap -low density-imported topper pad.Good memory foam is just not REALLY cheap.
GOOD--memory foam is is affordable, but it is not 1 cent plus shipping. Do not dream that you can get a good memory foam topper THAT cheap. You can get a cheap low density topper for a cheap price -but not what is considered "real memory foam."And real memory foam is what we are all so excited about. Not foam!!!
Do not buy expensive beds. Buy a topper pad and then just put the pad on top of your existing bed. WALA! You just made yourself a memory foam bed. Remember that bigger (10lb) is not always better....it is just bigger and more expensive. Sometimes it is too big and too hard!!!
LEARN HOW TO READ FEEDBACK
Never go by the % number you see on the first page of the ad.
Do not " just" look at the 99.9% number of positive feedback on the first page of the ad! Click into the link that will say "See detailed feedback or See All feedback!" That is where you will see the amount of bad feedback that paticular seller has received. If you you see a lot of bad feedback? Read it! That is probably what you can expect to get too!!
If you see a new seller --with thousands of good feedback- that too is suspicious. It takes time for people to build up feedback. One site sells serta and all of the topper pads are too short for a regular bed size. However they have all good feedbak. That does not make sense to me and is a red flag !
YOU MAY ASK
How can a seller have a high 98.8% good feedback rating and yet have hundreds of bad feedback also? Well, unfortunately , now sellers can feed themselves their own feedback. They can do this by setting up a host -that will host 150 other sites. When they get 1 bad feedback -they can give themselves 100 good feedbacks. So they will always offset the % number of "any" bad feedback that they get.
That is why.....
You can not trust all feedback that you read anymore. It is complicated! It is so complicated & entangled that no one can figure it out yet or trace it . My site is being watched by eBay because "they" (other sellers) have been bidding on my auctions in the past. It does not effect the sale or you...they run the price up so that you do not see me. Since everyone will look for the cheapest memory foam at first--this worked for them --for a while. They are the same 2-3 sellers. ..with different store fronts and different pictures. So you must search hard to find honest sellers with good product.
My eBay store name is (Justad Comfort)
How Much Bad feedback is OK ?
A very high number of bad feedback (in my humble opinion) is over 5-10 . A seller might get about 10 people-- who will not be pleased--in a few years. However -when you see 10-100's of people that are grossly unsatisfied and the sellers have thousands of good feedback and a 98.8 % rating ---you know that something is not right. You do not see this at first glance on the first page of the ad. When you click into the "see all feedback " - you will see the huge amount of bad feedback a seller might have. Read. What do they say in the bad feedback? If you can live with the bad feedback -then order from that seller. If not -then do not order .
Call the seller if you want to and give them a chance to explain. I have 4 bad feedbacks, in my almost 5 years selling these toppers, and I can explain each one. We all run into a few people who will not be pleased- no matter what we do--but I repeat---not hundreds!!!READ!
If you have any doubts at all --I suggest that you call sellers -just to get a feel for them.
DENSITY TRICKS
The 2 or 3 cubic foot trick
An example of a correct listing is: 4" 4lb density topper.
An example of a tricky density listing is 4" 4lb topper or 4" Topper - Get it?
They did not say 4lb density they said 4lb Topper.
If you order 5.0 topper ----you get a 2.5lb density
If you order a 4.2 topper ---you get 2.1lb density
They did not say density----they only said topper. The trick is this: Memory foam is measured by 1 cubic foot . They just make up a bogus formula of measuring foam by 2 -3 cubic feet. (Which is scientifically impossible) They might even say this --later on in the ad -that they use 2 cubic feet to measure density. What is cubic feet----you ask ??? Confusing??? YES!!! It is meant to confuse you!! How would you know how to measure memory foam & cubic feet and etc. ???? Well that is just the point of this trick -- to confuse you. They offer cheap prices and big numbers--with bogus measurements. They sell you cheap memory foam -- you just buy and ask questions -later. When it is too late.
Cheap has always = cheap! Always has been ---always will be . There are no stupid sellers out here with good memory foam selling it very-very cheap. There are very clever sellers out here that sell very bad foam --very cheap and make their money in shipping. $10.00-$5.00 on each customer. ....adds up if you sell a lot. And they do!
Some buy cheap imported memory foam . It has very little density to it & does not last.
- Some of it is weighted with "stuff" that seems to be similar to memory foam- this makes it heavy- so you think you are getting a good heavy topper.Bigger is not better.Top quality is better and that is not cheap. It is affordable.
- Some sellers talk about the density they feature ( for example -let us say that they feature a 6lb density) but the topper in the ad that they will sell to you ---may be a 2lb density. It is not the one "they feature." And they did not say it was---so you must read how they word the ads.
- Some sellers are very shiesty!! If it is really cheap- there is a trick!!!!Better read it 3 times. ...or just belive me ...that you can not get "REAL MEMORY FOAM " for a really cheap price.
CHECK TOPPER SIZES...
- Some sellers are selling top brand names: like Serta ---they are short in size and they list the sizes. Check the topper sizes. Some are selling short irregular topper pads . They will not fit your bed size. Some are 6 inches short.
- Some promise to cut it to size -but the topper is not large enough to cut to size.
IRREGULARS
- Some sellers sell toppers that have skin on one side-and accept no returns
- Some sellers sell toppers that are in pieces, dirty or torn- and accept no returns
Retail Stores
-
Sometimes retail stores have very little density in their memory foam. read the label-ask questions.
-
Some retail stores advertise 4" 4lb density memory foam pad. There is 3 " of regular foam and 1 " 4lb density glued on the top. WALA 4" of 4lb density foam.Get the trick ????
IMPORTS ------ ONLY BUY TOPPERS MADE IN THE USA
- Imports have no laws or regulations to follow. They can put anything in them.
- Imports can be toxic-we do not know what is in them.
- Many people have reported imports having a very-very strong odor & does not leave.
- Many people have reported that imported memory foam goes flat in 6 month-1 year
Some factories spin sand into their foam so it weighs heavy-
Some factories spin air, so there is more fluff .
You will not have the same experience on a cheap memory foam topper- so save your money until you can buy good memory foam . You must remember-- Cheap prices = cheap memory foam. You can not buy bubble gum for a penny--why would you think that you could buy a good memory foam topper for a penny + shipping?
AUCTIONS
We all start our auctions at a penny or 99 cents. This is because when you search for memory foam --you usually search for the cheapest/lowest cost. We all want you to see our ad -and buy from us --so we start an auction --at a low price. A penny. However, no top quality topper is going to sell for that penny + 29.99 shipping. No one is stupid out here. We are not going to pay $200.00 for a topper and then sell it to you for a penny. That is why we have "a reserve" on our auctions. The topper will not sell until the reserve amount is reached.
This is not shiesty. It is how eBay is set up. It is how we sellers are forced to sell. eBay makes a lot of money off of our repeat auction listings.
If it is selling for a penny & there is no reserve on the auction .... then the topper is so cheap that the seller plans to make their profit in shipping. So check the shipping price. If the shipping price is reasonable then you can bet the topper is really cheap. I repeat-you can not buy bubble gum for a penny. Do not buy the trick. If it looks too good to be true- it is. There are no stupid sellers out here. Quite the oppisite- is true.
BIGGER IS NOT BETTER
One ad reads all about 10lb plus. Does not measure by density. They hope to sell their product to people who think bigger is better. It is not, bigger is just bigger. Over 4inches is over kill. A "REAL" 10lb density would be hard as a rock.
Some are selling 3 pieces of foam.2 pieces are hard low density foam and one may be a 2" or 1" 4lb - for the top. All of this is held together with a case around the 3 pieces. You need to be close to memory foam-so you do not want a case around it. Many have been very disappointed with the density of this foam.they say it is hard-like regular foam and has one thin piece that is soft. Read the feedbacks.Do not be impresses with the big numbers 8 -10" I have had many complaints about this packaging..
Some are selling a 10lb density with a 25 ILD That is soooooooo hard! And it is expensive! And many that have bought this --then call me & want to cover it with at least a 2" 4lb density topper--because it is soooooooo hard. I have had many people do this with top brand name beds 2!!! .Big numbers can mean it is hard memory foam.just my humble opinion.
SOME ADD CHEMICALS ----SO IT WEIGHSS MORE--THERE IS JUST MORE " STUFF " IN IT. ...not density
Do not be impressed with the big numbers. Over 4inches is over kill.
READ ABOUT DENSITY & THICKNESS AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU.
You can go to my eBay store (Justad Comfort) and read about density.

WARRANTY
My factory sells my memory foam topper pads to many stores . A stores will say "they will warranty their memory foam topper for 20 years" -They charge about $1,200.00 -$2,000.00 + up for their toppers. If you have a dip hole occur after 6-8 years -guess what happens. ...They expected that and that is acceptable in most of the bedding world. Many stores will ask if you have the original box and receipt. Do you keep that big box 15--20 years? You did!! Good-Then they may send you to the manufacturer . The manufacturer will certainly send you back to the store. Many say that it has" a warranty ---against defects." What is a defect? Did you know that "they " (the bedding company's of the world) ---consider a 2.5" compression set (sink hole)--- normal??? Yes-- they not only consider this normal--they expect this. This is true with all the top name brand beds that you will purchase. ....not just memory foam. I call it " Th Big Bed Lie" ---no pun intended. ;-)
So if you find that your 2 -3 thousand dollar bed has a bit of a dip in it after 7-8 years-this is what happens. they might replace it once. I said "MIGHT" After that you are on your own. now if you had paid $300.00 and had a compression set after 8 years --you would not feel so bad when you need to buy a new one. Unless you prefer to be lied to. I am telling you the truth ...all beds feel different after 7-8 years.
There are soooooooooo many loopholes in a warranty for beds. Big bed stores hire special people to handle any problems. And they are well trained to keep you so confused and so befuddeled, that you will finally give up and go a way thinking " Is it just me?"
- No!!! It is them!!! Tricks abound in the bedding world. So you must do the best you can.
- Do not pay a lot of money for a bogus warranty. That is my advice.
- Buy a good, firm, medium priced bed. A firm bed will hold up longer.
- Then put a good ,top quality, moderately priced memory foam topper on it. ($250.00-$400.00)
- Change it out every 6-10 years. ...depending on how it feels.
- Turn and rotate any bed or topper. It extends their life
There are so many variables --as far as how long a topper will last. I can not tell you how long one will last for you. How much time do you spend in bed- what do you weigh--will you rotate your topper & turn it ( that prolongs the life of it) Will your kids jump on it- will big dogs sleep in it? If you have normal wear and tear -I say about 6-8 years it will feel the same. Then you will feel a bit of a change. And this is true with the very ,very expensive toppers too. At least, that is what my customers have told me.
THE CUSTOMERS
"They" are the specialists that I listen to. They were all there and have bought and used the very best memory foam pads and other beds.. They have been there- done that-with Tempur-pedic and many other top brand names. I am just repeating to you- all that I have been told in these 5 years of business. ...BY "THEM." You the customers--have been my teachers. I just pick a good top quality foam made in the USA. Put a small profit on my toppers and try to make it a win/win for both of us.
So what do you buy?
You must have a trial period offered-with money back!
-
Don't expect ANY bed to feel the same for 20 years.
-
Be reasonable. What does feel the same after 20 years? lol
-
Keep your own bed if it is in good condition and add a topper pad.
-
If you need a new bed---Buy a good-firm moderately priced bed and put a memory foam topper pad on the top . Be happy that it it is the best bed you can have for that many -many years.
-
Then after 6-8 years (maybe more) if you feel like you need a new one ---buy another one.
If you did not spend $2,000.00-$3,000.00 on a memory foam topper --you will be happy if it lasts 6-8 + years --won't you?? I will!! I would rather know the truth .I do not want a lie-and not expect more and get less. I would rather not be be mad about a lie. Don't spend too much and do not expect ANY bed to feel the exact same for 20 years. It ain't gonna happen!! Excuse my French!
Who knows---in 20 years we may be sleeping in the air!!!
I must ask you this- Do you really believe that an eBay seller or a store will be here 20 years from now --to respect a 20 warranty on your topper? I can not even tell you if I will be a live in 20 years. Maybe a store will be there --maybe---but they may not sell the memory foam anymore. Then what?
The BIG 20 year warranty--what a game!!!
For one thing-I do not think any bed can feel the same after 20 years .
Yes-they say that they will warranty a bed for 20 years. And then we choose to think that " the big 20 year warranty" means the bed will feel the exact same for 20 years. WRONG!!! After 6 years any bed will feel different. So do not spend a fortune on words.
Get a decent firm bed for a decent price and then buy a decent topper to put on it. Replace the topper every 6- 8 yeras--maybe yours will last 10 years if you rotate it -and weigh under 160lbs and turn it every 3 months . There are many variables to consider. If it is on a guest bed- you betcha it will last 20 years. If you sleep on it each and every night- we are talking 6-8 years or may be a few more-depending on the variables. it could last 10-15. But do not spend $2,000.00 for that promise.
Spend $200.00- $400.00 on a topper---not thousands and you will be happy! Because that is not a bad price to pay for 6 - 8 + years of bliss. Do the math-you are going to spend about 1/3 of your life on that bed/memory foam topper. You will look forward to gong to bed-each and every night!!!
Pay less- expect less -be reasoanable -and be happy with that :-) Use your common sense..
- Do not buy anything that has the memory foam glued down to a surface-
- Do not buy anything that has the memory foam stuck under a padded quilted top-
- Do not buy anything that says it does not need to be rotated or turned.
In my humble opinion ---these are built to fail.-common sense. ok ---Want reasons?
- Glued down-you can't turn it- so you get half the life from it.
- Quilted top- you can not feel it- memory foam is heat sensitive -also they are normally cheap memory foam fillers that break down in 6 months.
- Then there is the bed that does not need turned. I know you do not even need my help on this one. I have had many people who purchase these beds and they are so unhappy.
The air bed --supplys one third of my business. Most people get a memory foam topper fast ---for that bed. Sorry guys- but that is the truth! You sink into the middle . If you have pain -you still feel your pressure points with that bed. Because your body will meet the bed and does not give like a good memory foam bed will.
This is a quote from another guide----posted by northlightsleep -------I love this one!!!!
----"Make sure you are aware of the warranty on what you are purchasing, as well as return policies. Many companies will make the fine print difficult to find and divert your attention elsewhere and only when it's too late, the purchaser finds out the whole truth. For example, Tempurpedic offers a 20 year limited warranty, but what many do not know is that after the first 10 years, you must be 50% of the cost, and each year afterwards, an additional 5%, so by the 19th year of the so-called 20 year warranty, you are forced to pay 95% of the fees! 95% of their incredibly marked up prices, to cover their marketing fees and overheads, is not the kind of warranty you want!"
I rest my case-about 20 a year warranty!
I have sold my toppers for about 5 years now. I had one customer say that their topper was beginning to feel different. The other thousands ---I have not had one complaint. They all send their friends and family and order more and more. And that is the truth. So far -so good!!! Everyone is happy! Even the person who said hers felt a bit different wanted to purchase from me again.
MYTHS
SHRINK-WRAPPING WILL NOT HURT GOOD MEMORY FOAM
"GOOD MEMORY FOAM " WILL NOT MAKE YOU HOT.
YOUR TOPPER WILL NOT TURN COLD & HARD IF IT IS A GOOD ONE!
YOU DO NOT NEED A COVER
Memory foam is hypo-allergenic, anti-bacterial and anti microbial.
Covers are slippery- Hard to get on & off- They fall apart after about 3 washings - total fluff- just stuff!!! Just use a nice thin, fitted inexpensive 100% cotton jersey knit on your topper --then use your own 100% cotton fitted sheet. No mattress pads. You want to be as close as possible to memory foam to get optimum comfort. Do not put padding between you and the topper or you will just dip.
NEVER BUY A TOPPER BECAUSE A COVER IS INCLUDED
TRUST!!!
BOTTOM LINE -- YOU MUST TRUST YOUR SELLER -
I hope this has helped and saved some of you from buying bogus memory foam products.
There are honest sellers on eBay. If you happen to get another kind of seller -tell eBay about them. eBay wants a safe selling & buying space for all of us. Lets not let a few bad apples spoil the fun for the rest of us. And it is the same 3-4 sellers that appear to be 10 different ones.
Complain --squeak--yell ---protest--speak---email eBay if you feel something is has been mis-represented. That and only that will help. It may not help "your bad experience" - but it will eventually help others. If they get enough complaints about a bad seller -they will kick them off. If you just agree to remove the bad feedback--well then---the seller has won and can keep on ripping off other unsuspecting buyers.
Thanks for your interest These are the things I have learned over the past 5 years. I know more about tricks and and bedding than I ever thought I wanted to know. lol
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A GOOD MEMORY FOAM BED.
KEEP YOUR BED AND ADD A TOPPER AND YOU HAVE MADE THE BED.
YOU HEAL WHEN YOU SLEEP--SO SLEEP IS SO VERY IMPORTANT TO YOUR HEALTH. GET A GOOD MEMORY FOAM TOPPER. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT .
Read the negative feedback & ask the density!!!
Please don't forget to check the box -- at the end of this guide--if it helped you ;-)
