I've been wanting wireless internet in my home for a while, and when a local computer store went out of business, I decided to get a wireless router. All the reviews I had read said to get Linksys, and stay away from Belkin. There were very few reviews for TRENDnet, but it came with a promising 3-year warranty, so that along with the lower price made up my mind. The Linksys routers were about $20 more, the Belkin was about the same, maybe $5 cheaper.

     So far I have had excellent results! My connection has not been dropped (which was the biggest problem I read about with Belkin) and the signal strength and quality are excellent to good anywhere in my house (about 2000 square feet). The installation was easy, and the directions were very clear. I only had 2 problems, which were my fault: 1: I turned on the option to hide the SSID (Network name) for better security and wound up unable to connect because my laptop couldn't find the network! Easy fix with the included network software. 2: After installing, my wired connection on my desktop computer couldn't connect to the internet. Again, easy fix by "adding device" in the included program.

It is installed on the top floor near the back wall of my house. Here are the signal strengths at various points around the house as detailed by my laptop using a Linksys Wireless G Notebook Adapter:

Within 10 feet on top floor: Excellent 100%

Near front of house on top floor: Very good 70%

Near front of house on main floor: Excellent 80%

Near back wall on main floor: Excellent 100%

Basement near front of house: Very good 60%

Basement near back wall: Excellent 87%

Front yard: Good 40%

In my car in the driveway: Low 20%

Back yard: Excellent 80%
