It seems that August is the slowest selling month for eBay sellers. The back to school phenomenon causes many people to spend money on their kids school supplies, which causes them to cut back on extra spending on buying eBay items.
In 5 years of selling, there's not much that we've been able to figure out to boost the slow sales in August. There simply are not that many people shopping on eBay.
Many large power sellers actually close their stores during August. That can be a bitter pill to swallow, for an eBay profit junkie.
I don't necessarily recommend closing your store in August, but I do recomend limiting the amount of items you put on auctions because these auctions are very expensive. Too many of your auctions will come back unsold and you'll be slapped with listing fees that really smart.
I advise listing the majority of your August products in your eBay store. The monthly store listing fee for smaller priced items is 3 cents per month. By putting 90% of your items in your store, you'll be glad when the low listing fee bill arrives in your email.
August is also a fairly hot summer month and many people are either on vacation or have just arrived back from their July vacations from which they have spent a lot of their money.
For these people, August is the time to buckle down and cut their spending, as they start saving for their kids school year as well as the onset of the holiday buying season.
You'll notice sales gradually pick up in September through the end of October.
Then in November the buyers will kick their buying into high gear as they approach the biggest eBay selling month of the year - December.
