Olefin (polypropylene) is a new Space Age Synthetic which keeps you Warm in the Winter and Cool in the Summer. It is used in Sports Clothes because it Wicks away Moisture and is Stain Resistent. Best of all it does not BURN, it flames at point of contact, melts and then stops. Wonderful for Children's Sweaters.
Also olefin is one of the the cheaper chenilles, it sometimes seems hard to work with and sheds but once thrown into a low heat setting dryer for a little while there is a locking core that sets the chenille and brings out it's sheen and softness.
Chenille yarn can be made from many different types of fibers and yarns. Most common are cotton, viscose (rayon), acrylic, and polypropylene (olefin).
