I made a special scrapbook for my husband's 40th birthday. I think he was very surprised and touched to have a book all about him. Here are some tips if you'd like to do something similar.
-
Ask family members for photos and memorabilia
I wanted to include pictures from his childhood, before I even knew him.
I made copies of the following items to include in the album:
![]()
- Birth Certificate (with those tiny baby footprints!)
- Birth Announcement
- Hospital Bracelet
- First Photos
- School Photos
- Newspaper Clippings
- Ribbons, Awards and Certificates
- Artwork and Creative Writing
- Diploma (High School & College)
- Photos of Friends from School/College
-
Go through family photos and chose photos depicting:
- The Two of You
- Him as a Dad (holding or playing with the kids)
- Working Around the House (Mr. Handyman!)
- Silly Pictures (Dressing up for Halloween, etc)
- Places You've Lived
- Birthdays as an Adult
- Family Pictures Through the Years (my, how we change!)
- Cars He Has Owned
On the last page of the album I included a letter telling him how much fun I had making the album and how much I've enjoyed being his wife.
This is a really enjoyable type of album to put together.
It is fun to imagine what your spouse was like as a child, what made them laugh or cry, what their life was like to make them the person you love so much today.
Happy Scrapping!
