I have had many Sure Fit slipcovers for my dining room chairs. My favourite thus far are the Chenille Dining Room Chair Slipcovers. They are considerably heavier in weight than the traditional duck or damask slipcovers. What does all this mean? Well, the added weight seems to help the slipcover to 'drape' properly over a chair while looking regally elegant at the same time. They are luxuriously soft in texture. They are also very hard to find and not available in a large assortment of colors. Forget about trying to find end chairs (or head dining room chairs with arms) because Sure Fit - both in Canada and the USA still haven't figured out how to make this style. I don't know why since these types of chairs have been around since way before I was a sparkle in my daddy's eye. Anyway...if you find them - get them. You won't be disappointed. I only mention this brand as their chair slipcovers seem to have the height (up to 42" in all) compared to Pottery Barn dining room / kitchen chair slipcovers which fit a teensy 38" tall chair - plus the 1st brand I mentioned does provide for a larger chair (they fit Parson Chairs perfectly).
Why I like dining room or kitchen chair slipcovers? Well, they really do add a warm elegance to a chair. You can have the world's ugliest or most beat up looking chair...or even an assortment of mis-matched chairs and ONLY slipcovers can hide that fact! No one but you needs to be the wisest. Me? Well, I cover my chairs with slipcovers for two reasons. The seats of my dining room chairs are a light champagne colour and I want to keep them looking that way. Also, I only use my dining room maybe once a month or so, so I do not want dust to gather on the seats (more work for me to clean) - so I keep them covered. Covering them up keeps them looking new while adding a textured elegance to my room. It's a win-win situation. Plus...I love to change the look of my rooms quite often and slipcovers helps me to do that. I've gone from Burgundy to Sage Green to Red to Amber. Whew! Nothing like redecorating a room to help you fall in love with your furniture all over again - that's my motto and I'm sticking to it!
