Sunshyne Crafts would like to share some information on Pure Natural Beeswax  with all Ebay Customers. A Healthier way to burn candles.

Pure Natural 100% Beeswax

How is Beeswax Made ?

Beeswax is produced when honeybees consume honey. It takes approx. 8 to 9 pounds of honey to produce one pound of beeswax. In order to make one pound of beeswax, bees need to collect nectar from over 17 million flowers. Beeswax is secreted in a form of a scale about the size of a pinhead by worker bees that are 12-18 days old. The worker bee has eight wax secreting glands under the abdomen. It takes about 800 scales to make one pound of beeswax.

How does the Candle get its Honey scent?

Pure beeswax has a subtle, clean honey aroma. The beeswax scale when first secreted is tasteless, odorless and almost colorless. Beeswax obtains it's natural color of light to golden brown when the propolis and pollen are collected by the honeybees. The distinctive honey fragrance is obtained by the propolis and pollen are brought into the hive and the storage of the pollen and honey in the honeycomb.

Sunshyne Crafts believe that 100 % beeswax is such a wonderful component that no additives are necessary to enhance the appeal. Beeswax and you Health fragrances are added therefore assuring a hypoallergenic candle that is easy on the respiratory system and will not make you sneeze. Pure natural beeswax produces negative ions which cleans the air of dust, dust mites, viruses, pollen and toxins. The only wax that is proven to be nontoxic is 100 % Beeswax.

Pure natural beeswax is perfect for people who love candles but want a healthier way to burn their candles.

What kind of wicking is Best?

Sunshyne Crafts used only cotton wicks unless specified. Be careful, as synthetic and metal cored wicks are very toxic and emit smoke and soot. Unfortunately, they are popular with candle makers and consumers for their lower prices and ease of use. Synthetic wicks are utilized by manufacturers of machine made candles because they are stiffer and can maintain their placement in a mold.

Sunshyne Crafts carries both poured and rolls each beeswax candles by hand. All cotton wicks are centered by sight and feel and are held into place with clips until the candle is fully cooled.

In regards to recent concerns about lead in candle wicks Sunshyne Crafts manufacturer has provided us with information stating that the Consumer Product Safety Commission defines a lead core wick to be one containing greater than 0.06% lead. Zinc Core wick has a maximum level of lead impurities of 0.004% well below the standard required. A easy way to tell the difference between zinc and lead core wicks is to cut a piece of wick off and remove the wire. Rub the wire across a sheets of paper - lead will "write" like a pencil, while zinc wire will not.

Sunshyne Crafts tealights are handpoured using Zinc core for 2 reasons. First, after several studies using cotton wick with beeswax tealights result in problems as the beeswax burns far longer than the wick and you are left with excess beeswax in your tealight cup. Secondly, cotton wick is very flimsy and does not stand up like the zinc wick does so if they are being displayed they do not look as nice.

Is it Dripless ???

100% Pure Beeswax burns dripless if kept from drafts and the candle is of a consistent shape relative to the size of the wick. All Sunshyne Crafts tapers, pillars , artistic candlesvotives and floating candles possess this quality. When 100% Pure beeswax burns it is consumed by the fire of the flame. Other waxes disintegrate into toxic components and are released into the room or melted into drippings.

What is the burning rate ?

Sunshyne Crafts 100% Pure beeswax tapers burn up 5 times longer than other waxes or wax combinations. Therefore, they are a exceptional value. Why are some beeswax candles covered with a whitest residue ?

Persons new to beeswax candles are often perplexed by the appearance of a whitest deposit forming on the candles over time. This is called bloom. It is the natural minerals rising to the candle surface. Some people like bloom, as it shows that they have high quality 100% pure beeswax and gives the candle an antique look. If a shinier surface is preferred, simply wipe the bloom off with a lint free cloth or carefully warm it for a few seconds with a hair dryer.

What about colored Beeswax ?

Pure natural beeswax has a natural light to golden brown color. Sunshyne Crafts  Natural Beeswax Tealights are perfect example of the beautiful natural color created by bees.

But we all love Color. As dyes are used to give the desired color to customers, Sunshyne Crafts wants their products to maintain as much natural ingredient as possible so we use only FDA approved food grade safe dyes and are non toxic. We have over 33 Beeswax colors to choose from.

What can beeswax be used for ?

Candle making, quilting, jewelry, shoe polish, lip balm, furniture polish, leather boot conditioner, coating cookie sheets, cosmetics, marble repair, fly tying, waxing wood windows and drawers,
