Suede and Nubuck Leather are both abraided leathers that are "fuzzy" in appearance.
Suede is the interior split of the hide. It clearly shows individual soft and relient fibers.
Nubuck is the sanded outer side of the hide. It has fine, velvety, and short fibers.
Care:
1. Clean your shoes with leather shampoo or cleaning foam. A Suede and Nubuck Rubber and/or a Suede and Nubuck Brush are great for the removal of loose surface dirt. For Suede and/or Nubuck Leather, use more than water to clean. If you have a stain, use a stain remover that is specifically formulated for suede and nubuck materials. If your shoes are wet after cleaning, let them air-dry before you begin the care and conditioning process. DO NOT store wet Suede/Nubuck shoes near heat source, as they may shrink.
2. Care and Conditioning is very important for Suede and Nubuck Leather Care. There are products available that protect, condition, and revive the color of this special material. The nap of Suede and Nubuck Leather needs to be brushed up frequently to preserve the unique look of the material. For oiled nubuck use a conditioner that replaces the oil that wear takes out of the material.
3. Water-/Weatherproofing is particularly important for the preventive maintenance of this sensitive material. Before you wear your Suede or Nubuck Shoes for the first time, treat them with a water and stain repellant spray specifically designed for this material. Repeat this process frequently to keep up on the protective film, and to ensure color does not fade.
