Curls are like snowflakes each glorious mane of hair is unique. As a stylist in the industry and a girl with natural curl I have tried every product through the decades! People say your hair is beautiful! Mostly you agree but you remember times were you wouldn't leave the house without your baseball hat. Curly hair be it thick or thin, long or short. There are always ways to to care for whatever curl you have to keep it healthy and manageable. What works for one mane of ringlets may not work for another. At Shades of Art Boutique I am here to help you become the master of your hair.
Always use a professional shampoo and conditioner. The more you touch your root, the frizzier it can get. Treat yourself once a month to a deep conditioning treatment. I can suggest, depending on your hair texture, a variety of personalized for your hair maintain to help control your ends, and replenish what the harsh daily wear takes out. I recommend using the Ionic wide tooth comb when your hair is wet to detangle and let it air dry. I also have a variety of products designed to help straighten your hair for different styles.
A key tip that I suggest is to tell your stylist to do dry freehand cutting for your hair. Freehand means not using a comb the traditional way and instead picking up the hair by the individual curl and cutting. This technique gives my clients a cut that is visually freeing because curls do not lay straight on their own.
Ebrace your curls! A color glossing treatment such as Sebastian Laminates in Clear can also add control and sheen to the most unruly of curls. A great book that I reccomend is, The Curly Girl by Lorrain Massey. It is packed full of funny and creative stories to help understand what our curl is trying to tell us.
