School Backpack Checklist
Whether you're a student yourself or the parent of one, you know the frustration of a disorganized school backpack. Keeping it orgainized is a constant struggle. While you hope everthing you need for school that day is in there, are really sure? And also, are you carrying too much? Excess items, old folders, and unused materials not only keep you cluttered, their weight can be a medical hazard for kids (ref. Pediatrics, The Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Jan. 2003 pp 163-166). The AAP also recommends,
- Pack light
- Organize the backpack to use all of it's compartments
- Pack heavier items closest to the center of the back
- The backpack should never weigh more than 10 - 20 percent of the student's body weight
One way to be sure you have just what you need is to use a School Backpack Zip List. Zip lists are handy little tags that you attach to the outside of your backpack. On the front is listed the most commonly used daily school items and on the back blank space is provided so you can write in your own stuff. You can attach the Zip List anywhere on your bag, but it works best by just attaching it to the zipper pull. That way, when you are in a hurry and zipping up your bag to head out the door, there is no excuse not to check your list, because it's already in your hand, ready to read!
Attach the Zip List to your bag, check the list, and Go! An easy way to stay organized for school!
If you have a handy tip about getting or staying orgainized for school, please pass it along. Just e-mail me through my store, and if the tip is appropriate, I'll add it to this guide! Thanks.
