People often ask me where they should store their unused batteries so here is my opinion.

Batteries should be stored at Room Temperature and a place that is dry. 

Think Chocolate:  I personally think of storing batteries the same way I would store chocolate candy bars. Away from moisture and heat. If the place you choose can melt chocolate then it may be too hot to store batteries. If  the place you choose can likely  causes a chocalate candy bar to be moldy then there is too much moisture especially for batteries since it may cause rust or discharge.  So store your batteries like a chocolate candy bar and you will enjoy the sweet power it provides!

If your batteries are not individually sealed and air tight then you should put them in a waterproof bag(moisture absorbing compound like silica gel)  rid of most of the air since condensation is the likely source of moisture.

Where batteries Should NOT be stored:

*They should NOT store them in the Freezer or refrigerator because it may cause condensation especially if they are open to air. If possible always buy batteries that are individually sealed since most moisture comes from air. For older batteries Refrigeration use to be the case but with new technology in most brand name batteries there is little benefit.

*They should NOT be store near open flame such as a fireplace or near oven or even direct sunlight. On a good day sunlight can get metal surfaces really hot especially in the house with no air circulation.
