Vintage Ornaments like Shiny Brite and others will last for a long time if stored properly"
Storing them:Get a box, and then place a Sealed Envelope filled with about 2 table spoons of coffee grinds to keep the box dry from any potential moisture,..at the bottom of the box, line it with a layer of bubble wrap.
Then wrap each ornament in 1 paper towel, and then in 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper, and place close together in the box, protect all sides with bubble wrap as your box fills up, then, close it up, simple as that:)
store in a dark place away from sunlight. and moisture..as moisture will erode the inside and the sunlight will fade them, if you can you want to make sure its in a neutral environment where it cant build up moisture. If you have original boxes I would suggest removing all the hooks, and place in a baggy, wrap each ornament is tissue with no moisturizers;) boxing up the boxes in one big box.... and with Shiny Brite and other gelatin water based glazes the only way to clean is with a soft dry cloth never wet.
Oxidation and spotting will happen at times, but just adds to the nostalgia of the Old time Ornaments!..
This is how Grandma kept her ornaments well enough to get passed down to me!!
