As a buyer I have a few expectations for when I win an auction. One, that the item I paid for is in the shape it was shown and described. Two, that the seller doesn't try to ream me over the shipping cost. And third, that my item is shipped out in a timely fashion. Usually, not always, but usually one of the above three happens. While I've focused on the first two in previous guides, this one is about the third one: shipping delays.
It's gotten to be pretty normal for a seller to take their time sending out items. Personally, I don't really care if you are running a business or are trying to make a living off ebay. Fine. Do your thing. But don't treat me like I just ordered something off Amazon and am going to wait 3 weeks before I get it. I can't speak for all buyers, but I tend to pay for my items fairly quickly. If not the same day then generally the next. I do my part, I pay quickly. I like to use Paypal so I know it's quick. I don't know if there's a lag time from Paypal. Again, don't care. I took the first leap of faith in dishing out my money. Now you do your part.
Problems have been coming up a lot more frequently lately. "I forgot your item". I" shipped the wrong thing". "I haven't gotten to post office". "I only go on the first Tuesday after the third weekend of the month". Ship my item when I pay for it. If it's a day or two after, fine. If it's the weekend, fine. But don't go waiting a week or two before sending out my item.
It's like fast food; I'm not going for good food, I'm not going for ambiance, I'm not even going for service. I'm going for quick. Here's my money, give me my stuff.
