Starbucks topped themselves again with their Sir Paul McCartney gift card.  They came out with the card in conjunction with the release of the "memory almost full" CD.

I first saw a window poster. Then I walked in and by the registers I saw a standing display of CD's.  On it, a display header & a slot for the brand new card with former Beatle, Paul McCartney. Designed in Black & White & then a great hot pink color on the 'Starbucks Card' Logo & back of the card.  It is similar in colors to the CD cover with the couch chair & his signature & memory almost full. The cd cover does not show him making his 'zoolander face,' as one barista said to me.  I thought that was funny as often I would find people in the stores trying to recreate Sir Paul McCartney's look.

Well, I was thrilled as I was hoping that the US was going to get the same card that the UK had.  In the UK,  the card starts with 6037#.  I have found in the US it starts with both 6037# & 6038#'s.  It just depends on where you live and what stores you go to.  I found both numbers in my many purchases of these cards.  The original UK Version of the Paul McCartney card was selling on eBay for a lot of money. Thankfully, I waited and the price came way down.  But, now there are very few on eBay being sold, making the prices come back up a bit.

After I ordered my drink, I loaded a number of cards & also bought the cd - "memory almost full."

I have always enjoyed hearing and crossing paths with his music, but this was my first cd.  I must say, this cd is really great & highly recommended.

This CD was produced by Starbuck's Hear Music which I have been a fan of since I found the first store.  That is a whole other guide available soon, and they have great cards besides their music.  They were able to get McCartney to sign with them after having been with EMI. This was their "First Artist Signing" & was a big deal which I had been hearing about for a while.

Back to the card...I have put up a scan.  It is of the front of the 2 different versions of the card.  Both the UK and US card look exactly alike, but there are differences.  The sticker on the front has different wording as well as in the type on the back & different phone numbers, etc.

Well, who knew that these cards would fly off the shelves in a matter of days?...seriously, days! I was on crutches & was not getting around to my often few Starbucks a day, as I had before I was hit by a car & had my leg surgery.  I was lucky I was coming from physical therapy the day I bought the cards.  I had to buy the rest off of eBay.  (My personal opinion is that people took the whole stack of cards & supposedly each store got about 1 box of 50 cards total.  Some people on eBay took photos of like 50 cards & then broke them up and sold them.) They are nevertheless, very limited in number compared to other cards!  In addition, there are so many Beatles & McCartney fans who are not card collectors who wanted this card too.  All my coffee crazy relatives carry this one around these days.

So, yes, these 2 cards are great card to add to your Starbucks Card, Paul McCartney, Beatles, Gift Card, etc. collection.  I think it is best to have both the UK and US versions.  There were no matching envelopes, the one they were using at the time was the beige tri-fold with the flap & the flocked fuzzy pattern on the outside.

We will have to wait and see how Starbucks will handle cards in relation to their CD releases & sales.  The last famous person they had on a card was Ray Charles.  That was only available loaded with $5 sealed inside of the two CD set, 'Genius Loves Company' which cost about $35 or so.  Great cd's and fun to listen to! I especially love the cd with all the artists that made duets with Ray!  I am still thankful that Ray Charles had his music and consulted with the movie Ray, which added to his legacy before he passed away. He will live on forever as music never dies.

Enjoy your cards, cd's & collection!

Peace, PaCRat! =^. .^=
