STAIN REMOVAL TIPS FOR BABY CLOTHES!!!!
Are you one of those Mommy's where all of your child's "GOOD CLOTHES" hang in the front of the closet...and hang there.....and hang there, waiting for that Special Occasion that never seems to present itself? And by the time you you DO find that occasion you go for that outfit in the closet and realize that it is too small!!! I know what you are thinking, it's dangerous out there for clothes, especially when you are on a two year old with a chocolate popsicle in hand- LOL. The world is full of dangers like CHOCOLATE, SPAGETTI O's and KOOL AID! But never fear "Mommy's of the Hallowed Closet" there is hope for you yet.....
I know a few "Mommy's of the Hallowed Closet" myself, and boy are they hard to convert.....LOL So here are a few tips to help you save those hallowed items when they do make it out of the closet and get blindsided by a bowl of Spagetti O's!
FIRST...Avoiding the Stain
I ALWAYS remove the shirt when my daughter is eating, it is a whole lot easier than fighting with a 1yr old to keep clean. This may be more difficult say at the mall/restaurant....but at the mall/restaurant just use a HUGE BIB!
Carry that "Tide to Go" stick with ya....it does really work! So if there is a disaster on that new Baby Lulu romper ........there is still hope!
****The husband does not know the difference between Gymboree, Carters, Lulu or Wal-mart clothing...so when my husband watches my daughter, she wears play clothes!****
NEXT....The Stain Removal Arsenal, what every woman should have in her laundry room.
* Use Good detergent, you know what I mean!
* Bleach Pen * Biz * Baby Oxi Clean * Shout or Spray n Wash
* Tide to Go Stick * Toothbrush * A bucket just for laundry
* A place to Hang - Air dry clothing
THE PLAN OF ATTACK:
Use the "Tide to Go" stick right away, and if that does not take care of it............Size up your opponent (stain / fabric)...... Be the first to attack- the stain, get to it ASAP. Soak the spot in shout, scrub with the toothbrush for about 30sec from the back side of the garment- working the spot out from the backside will avoid scrubbing it deeper into the garment. Let the spot soak for a few hours with the shout - keeping it moist. Then throw it into a solution of 2 scoops Baby Oxi Clean, 1/2 cup BIZ, WARM water in washer- as little as possible to do the "stain soak" load. Now only use the washer if you have a good amount of Stain Treated clothing to treat. I will use a bucket and cut the recipe in 1/2.
Soak 6 or more hours then add a cup or your regular detergent and wash as usual. DO NOT THROW CLOTHING IN THE DRYER! Hang dry your items, because if there is some stain left to get out you will not "set it in" as long as it has not been thrown in the dryer there is still hope to get it out! Now if it is on a white fabric you can go ahead and use the bleach pen if the stain did not come out. But be quick about it they work quick and have a tendency to bleed into areas you dont want to treat, Also they can leave a "Halo" effect after washed out ~ where you can see where the garment has been treated.
This method does not remove EVERY potential stain, but it is MY best defense against them. I do not do laundry every day,,,more like once a week! So I compile PRE TREATED stain affected clothing for up to a week and use the washer for the soaking! I have been known to get out old spit up stains, old kool aid spots etc.... but not all the time!
