1. First thing to look for: TAGS
If the tag is a yellow rectangle, take your money and RUN!! It is fake! If the tag you see is more asymmetrical and large and a big flower like thing, then it has a good possiblity of being real. Here are pics of tags:(UPDATE: ED HARDY'S SUMMER 2009 DIAPER BAGS HAVE BLACK RECTANGLULAR TAGS WITH A TIGER IN THE CENTER. YOU CAN SEE THE DETAIL IN THESE TAGS...I WILL POST A PHOTO SOON, BUT FOR NOW YOU CAN VIEW THE DIAPER BAGS IN MY LISTINGS)
FAKE TAG REAL TAG
2. Also, pay attention to RHINESTONES with the canvas group of bags. This is not necessarily true with ALL Ed Hardy items or handbags Swimsuits may or may not have rhinestones, there are many different lines of Ed Hardy handbags that are neither canvas nor have rhinestones (like the nail group, etc.). But there are bags I KNOW should have rhinestones and if they don't, they are fake! These bags are the Diddy (shown), Sandy (shown), Tanya, and Jane, but there may be more that have rhinestones that our store has not carried so I have not come into direct contact with them...
My point is, if you see a Diddy, Sandy, Tanya or Jane bag without rhinestones, it's fake. If you see something other than a Diddy, Sandy or Jane without rhinestones, it may or may not be real. Just pay close attention and compare the pictures you see in the listing you are interested in to the pictures of the bags on Ed Hardy's site.
More pictures.....
FAKE - no rhinestones!! REAL - see the rhinestones!! Also notice the different colors used in the silkscreen. The real one has more depth.
FAKE - yellow tag, no rhinestones, and bad silkscreen
REAL - rhinstones, colorful silkscreen with depth.
3. You also want to pay attention to the silkscreen as mentioned above in some of the pics. Ed Hardy handbags have amazing quality silkscreen! You will see a variety of colors with a lot of depth. See the Sylvia example below and see the difference.
And they don't embroider over the silkscreen (see the Diddy example above).
FAKE Sylvia bag - BAD silkscreen, the flower on back (2nd pic) is completely different than the silkscreen flowers on the actual Sylvia bags.
REAL front and back of Sylvia.
If the price is too good to be true, it probably is!!!
And if the listing doesn't say AUTHENTIC, 99.5% chance it is NOT AUTHENTIC.
However, even if the listing says authentic, do your homework!! Ask questions, ask for more pictures and make sure the bag you are seeing in the photo is the bag you will be getting and not an Ed Hardy stock photo (so easy to get)! Some sellers use the Ed Hardy stock photo to advertise and then send you a fake bag that looks nothing like the real thing.
