I recently bought 2 Shure Beta 58's new in the box. They were excellent counterfeits. First of all they came with a yellow warranty card with a western kind of pinstripe scroll on the border. Real Bets'a have a blue warranty card and a different border. The xlr connection did not have numbered pins and the small Shure stamp.Upon removing the windscreen ball you should see gray foam on the capsule. The fakes have black foam. All the other usual paperwork was included other than the Shure sticker.Real Shure's come with a sticker. They also had a mic bag which is only 8.5 inches long. The real Shure's mic bag is 10 inches. Last but not least, the fakes weighed 9 grams less than a real Shure Beta 58A. Check out Shure's web site for info.If in doubt go to a Shure dealer and ask to see a "real" Beta 58 and take some notes on the warranty card.etc and compare. My Ebay seller has offered to return my money and said he bought them at Guitar center. I have shipped them back and hopefully he will send me my money back. Since researching fakes I just found a fake SM 58 I also bought on Ebay. Check out the guides from Ebay on spotting fake SM 58's. Also Goggle had some UK and Australian Ebay guides which are very helpful.
