Tips on how to spot a counterfeit copy of the Trunks & Bags pochette # N61742

Often counterfeits will have date codes that are inconsistent with other stampings on the item. For example, the date code may indicate that the counterfeit item was manufactured in Spain while the stamping indicates it was made in France. Although you can find a interior leather strip with the date stamp in your item, in 99.9% of these cases the number is incorrect.

The golden color on the zipper pull is a different shade of gold and will tarnish or the finish will rub off in a fairly short time.

Genuine brass can be polished back to the shiny golden color-but the finish will not easily rub off.

The counterfeit manufactures concentrate on trying to get an exact copy of the exterior, so most of the inconsistencies are found in the interior. The interior bottom seam is not stitched as evenly and tight as the authentic and starts to come loose with time. The zipper is also not stitched in tightly and will easily pull loose with use. The poor quality of material and workmanship are very obvious once in hand. Look for overall workmanship and materials. This requires close inspection and handling the item.

. It may be difficult to differentiate a counterfeit from an authentic with only a few auction photographs. When the item arrives and you are able to hold it and inspect it the difference is noticeable-if you know what to look for.

 What makes it even more difficult is that some unethical sellers will post stock photos or stolen photos of an authentic item, and that is not the item you will receive. Some designer's utilize characteristic stitching in the construction of their items. •  I would not recommend buying a high end designer item from a seller with low feedback, or if all of the feedback received is as a buyer.
  

• Thoroughly read through the sellers feedback. If you see any reference that any of the items sold may not be authentic-AVOID

•  I also avoid seller's that have feedback that shows they never shipped the item, very slow shipping, package poorly or do not communicate with the   buyer. I just don't care to do business with this type of seller when there are so many other sellers that provide good customer service.

•  Low feedback and item is listed with a very low asking price and no reserve. They know they are taking a risk listing the purse at this low price and if it was authentic they would not take this risk-they would want to protect their investment.

•  Everyone likes a bargain, but let your common sense guide you. You are not going to find an authentic designer item for a fraction of the cost PERIOD> It just does not happen-not even with a pre-owned item. IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE-IT PROBABLY IS. You may be lucky and win an auction for $200-300.00 under retail price. This is a bargain. Buying a $2,000 item for $200 is a SCAM-not a bargain. REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

•  If you ask a seller if the bag is guaranteed authentic or they will refund your money 100% to include all your shipping cost and no restocking fee and they say NO or do not answer your question-AVOID THIS SELLER.(Remember you will be required to return the bag if you file a not as described claim).

•  I recommend avoiding any auctions that use only a stock photo on the auction. Do your research and know what the stock photos look like. If there is a watermark that belongs to another seller, then we can assume that photograph was stolen

• Don't be fooled by the Louis Vuitton gift sack or box in the auction. The counterfeit sellers buy these items for pennies to use as props in the photos. They can also buy copies of an original Louis Vuitton and ELuxury receipt's

• If you have purchased a fake and need a non authenticity statement from a third party, we suggest you contact KnowKnockOffForum's Authentic-Luxury or CarolDiva. You can take it into a Louis Vuitton store, but the SA's are not authorized to put this in writing. You can also send it to Louis Vuitton, but some designers will destroy the item if found to be fake and you will be required to send  the item either back to the seller or to eBay/Pay Pal for your claim. I know what your thinking, how crazy is that to send the item back to the counterfeit seller, so they can resale the item to another unsuspecting victim-but we don't make the rules.
