I would like to share with you my knowledge of painting, whether it be repainting the ceiling's, the wall and my favorite is using sponge on canvas, wood, art paper; if you can paint on it you can use a sponge for the stylish & different look you may be looking for. Below I'll first list a few projects I've used sponges on and examples of different sytles and patterns. Then I'll list a few ideas you may find interesting for future use.

* After your wall's and/or ceiling's are primed and sanded down if new, or if already been painted if dark colors use a primer so the colors wont bleed throu, mud the are you'll be doing; it's best to do section's at a time that way the mud wont dry and cause problems after having to reapply more. Then take a large round sponge and press into mud, lift up and continue doing this clock wise therefore making a waved, round pattern. (Once you get the idea you'll be able to come up with other ideas). It's easy to do but remember only do section's at a time so everything will be even.
*-* Another design I've used is with a small/round sponge. Doing the ceiling/wall the same way with the mud, hold the sponge so the flat end is against mud and slightly push in while turning clockwise a half turn. (example: top of sponge is say at 12 on clock and that's where you start your pushing while turning, you would only turn the sponge until it would be on the 3 then lift up and next to it begin again). Both I've done and there easy just keep the pattern going in the same direction.

A few ideals you may find useful:

* And my favorite is taking small sponges and/or triangle shaped, you can also use sponges on sticks; they usually come 6 or more to a pack and there found in stores next to paint brushes, and painting on canvas, art paper and wood.  I use small rounded sponges to give my work a different look. Just experiment and play around with different shapes and sizes until you get the style/design you want.
