HOW A SPELL HAPPENS
In my spells, I use a combination of many different magickal systems. Over the course of thirty or so years, I have come to learn what types of systems and methods produce the most powerful results, and I have incorporated all of those systems into my work as a spell crafter. In my early years, I studied under respected practitioners and also learned a lot from people in my family who were well versed in the magick arts. I also have acquired a lot of book knowledge on various magickal systems, being that I am an avid reader and imbiber of ancient texts. When I work my spells, I pull from all of these areas of this acquired knowledge, but I also adhere to my own psychic visions and senses of what is needed in a spell. I have had several past lives as a spell caster, and I believe that I have subconsciously retained a lot of that knowledge. Tapping into that knowledge was a big struggle for me in my early years, because I had once been put to death for my esoteric passions. Overcoming the blockages of past life subconscious fears was not easy, but once I was able to move past them, I discovered a vast repository of soul knowledge which I pull from to this very day.
I wanted to use this guide to breifly explain the areas of magick which I primarily use in my work. This is guide is geared toward those who are predominately unfamiliar with different magickal practices, and is meant to educate my customers on the methods that I use.
Hoodoo: Hoodoo is African American folk magick which has a strong focus on working with roots and herbs. Hoodoo is also sometimes referred to as "conjure" and Hoodoo practitioners are sometimes referred to as "conjurers". Hoodoo tradition places most of its emphasis on ones personal magical power and lacks links to any one specific form of theology. Like the folk magic of most cultures, hoodoo attributes magical properties to minerals, roots, and herbs. When I am casting a spell, I always keep knowledge of the Hoodoo based attributes for herbs, roots, and charms in mind.
Wicca: I greatly appreciate the emphasis that Wicca puts on Mother earth and the five elements of water, fire, earth, air and ether. The vast repository of herb lore found in Wicca is also greatly put to use in my spells. The magickal uses of herbs and roots in Wiccan lore has been effective in the creation of spells for centuries. I use my knowledge of herbs and roots as learned through Hoodoo and Wicca in most of my herb or root based concoctions.
Chaos Magick: Chaos Magick is my primary philosophical guide when it comes to the metal and energetic preparation of my magickals. It is also the basis for my sigils. Chaos magick is rather complex and difficult to explain briefly. It is most similar to Western ceremonial magick or neoshamanism. Chaos magick is not a belief in itself, it borrows from other belief systems. Chaos magick puts emphasis on the gnostic state, which I use very heavily in my magickal work. The gnostic state is achieved when the mind is focused on only one thought, or goal and all other thoughts are cast out. All practitoners have their own preferred way of reaching this state. Magickal Paradigm Shifting is also another component of Chaos Magick A paradigm shift is essentiallly changing and mixing belief systems. So, in theory, my magickal processes are primarily rooted in chaois magick since I incorporate so many different systems. This is one of the most powerful forms of magick. It's not easy, but it is one of the most powerful methods of casting. Discordianism is an offshoot of Chaos magick, and I embrace discordianism in my daily life as a way of lightening the load of so much energy.
Other: I incorporate a lot of Hindu magick into my work as well. I have a very extensive knowledge of Hindu spirituality, folklore, and practice due to many years of studying Tantra. I will also frequently call upon certain deities for assistance in spells or use certain power items such as ganga jal or rudraksha in the charging of potions. I also admire American Indian spirituality for it's reverence to the earth elements and animals and their powers. I will often call on certain animals totems for assistance in my work. I have great respect for all ancient, earth based spiritual systems, and beleive that they have tremendous power due to centuries of belief and reverence.
Self-Directed Energy: Of course, I also channel a lot of my own energy into my items. It is one of the primary reasons why authentic spell crafters create objects with their own hands. It is through the hands and the creation of an object that the object becomes infused with whatever intention we are throwing. It is very much like giving birth because I am bringing an object into existence that does not exist anywhere else in the world. However, the key is to allow the energy to move through the real me and not from the "personality" me. This is a very difficult state to acheieve, because it involves a dropping of the ego or sense of self during the casting phase. If I do not let go of Meena-the-personality while I am casting, I will be sending all sorts of crazy energies into my objects (aggravation about waiting in line at the grocery store, worry about my pets, feeling hungry, feeling sad, getting tired)!! I have to drop all of that and just let pure will and intention flow through.
I hope this answers some of your questions. People always ask me how I cast or if I can give them instructions on how to make spells, but those are very difficult questions for me to answer. To truly cast with power and purpose takes many years of study and discipline, and I find it very hard to explain in a brief manner (even in a guide that it feels like I have been typing forever!!). It really is not as simple as mixing a few things together in a bowl and reciting a chant or shouting 'Ala peanut butter sandwiches' over a wholesale trinket. That's what the uniformed tell the uninformed.
