Step by step setup speed trap and red light camera GPS POI database in your Magellan GPS.
- The speed trap data are divided into seven categories. The data are compiled to one *.mgln format file. You can directly transfer the data file into your GPS. You may have three methods to tansfer speed trap and red light camera data into GPS.
Using Magellan RoadMate Tools
* Magellan RoadMate Tools is a software application which comes with your GPS application CD. If you don't have this application installed in your computer, please install it from the application CD.
* Unzip the database package, and copy over Traffic Enforcement.mgln into My Documents\My POIs.
* Connect GPS unit to computer using USB cable. Run Magellan RoadMate Tools. From the Magellan RoadMate Tools window, click on POI button.
* On the next screen, you will see two file manager windows side by side. The left side of the window shows the contents of your computer and the right side of the window shows the contents of the GPS. Database file Traffic Enforcement.mgln should be appeared in the left side window. Click and highlight the file, and click the button with green arrow to transfer the file into GPS.
Using Magellan POI File Editor
* Magellan POI File Editor is also a software application which comes with your GPS application CD. If you don't have this application installed in your computer, please install it from the application CD.
* Unzip the database package, and copy over Traffic Enforcement.mgln into My Documents\My POIs.
* Connect GPS unit to computer using USB cable. Run Magellan POI File Editor. Click Open button in the tool bar. Then select file Traffic Enforcement.mgln to open it.
* Click Transfer to the GPS button with green arrow to transfer the data into GPS.
Use Windows Explorer to transfer data into GPS, if you don't have either Magellan RoadMate Tools or Magellan POI File Editor
* Double click My Computer, you should see the GPS shows up as a disk drive in the Explorer.
* Browse to USR\CPOI folder, and copy over Traffic Enforcement.mgln into there. - Disconnect GPS with computer. In GPS Main Menu screen, tap System -> Navigation Options -> Configuration -> Custom POI's -> Select a POI File, then select Traffic Enforcement.mgln. You are ready to go.
- When updating new POI data, you don't need to delete the old POI data in your GPS. Just repeat these steps to install new POI data. The new POI data will override the old POI data.
- Customize POI icons and alert settings.
You can use Magellan POI File Editor to customize POI icons and alert settings. - Run Magellan POI File Editor.
- Click Open button in tool bar to open file Traffic Enforcement.mgln.

There are three frames in POI File Editor window. Left side is POI categories. Upper right side is POI list, and lower right side is overview map.
- Double clock category name to edit the category. Edit Category dialog box will pop up.
- In the dialog box, you can select different icon from image drop down list. Also you can change first and second alert distance and tone.
- Save the file after change, and repeat above steps to transfer database into GPS.
