Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Red Light Camera plug-in for Garmin

Notes:
  • ** It is recommended to back up all existing GPS data to your hard drive prior to new software installation.
  • After it secure your own "User special destinations".
  • The speed camera POIs and categories can not edit in the device.
  • In principle, you can be warned about every speed camera or only when you are exceeding the speed limit.
  • You will need WinZip (www.winzip.com) or WinRar or any other software to decompress poi database. If you do not have any you can download free to use 40 day trail.

Step by step setup - Installation Guide
  1. Download and install Garmin POI Loader. Garmin POI Loader is free and available here: http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/.

  2. Create a folder called “My Garmin POI” on your desktop.

  3. Extract the entire contents of “Garmin.rar” to “My Garmin POI”

  4. Now the folder "My Garmin POI" contains all unzipped files types in *.bmp and *.csv format (every file type stands for one speed camera category):
    -  Fix Speedcams
    -  Mobile Speedcam
    -  Distance Cameras
    -  Red Light
    -  Red Light/Speedcams
    -  Section Cameras
    -  Speedcam Built-in Police Car
    -  Overtaking Forbidden Camera etc..

  5. Switch on your navigation system and connect it to the PC over the USB cable. Then start Garmin software POI Loader.

  6. Follow the instructions on your screen.
    - Click “Next
    - Select your GPS device from the drop down box and click “Next”

    - Choose “Install new custom POI’s onto your device” and click “Next”

  7. In the next step select the target folder on your hard disk which contains the unzipped files of our database. In our example it is "My Garmin POI". Now you can choose between Express mode and Manual mode.

Important for using the UK data:

The UK data are in "mph" instead of "km/h". Please use the UK data separate and select in the POI Loader "mph" by the data transfer!

  8. Express mode

In this mode all settings are given by POI Loader. Push Next button and all speed cameras were installed.

  9. Manual mode

Select manual modus to set all settings for speed camera categories by your own.

We recommend the following settings; of course you are free to adjust the values to suit your needs:

    20-30 mph (32.2 - 48.3 km/h) speed camera ......................... 200 m
    40-50 mph (64.4 - 80.5 km/h) speed camera ........................  250 m
    60-70 mph (96.6 - 113.0 km/h) speed camera ......................  500 m
    variable speed camera ........................................................ 500 m
    red light ..............................................................................100 m
    section cameras ................................................................. 300 m

  10. Finish the installation with POI Loader and disconnect your Garmin.

  11. Start your Garmin and check if audio alerts are activate. Go to Main menu/settings/Proximity Points/Alerts change... and .../Audio.

  12. The new POI categories were also shown in Main menu/Where to?/Extras (or My Locations) /Custom POIs.

Then you will see speed trap categories
Click one of them, You will see all speed trap POIs.
Choose any one, then tap "Map", then you will see the actual location on the map.

  13. Now, all speed cameras are installed and your Garmin is ready for a safe trip!

  14. When updating new POI data, you don't need to delete the old POI data in your GPS. Just repeat these steps to install new POI data. The new POI data will override the old POI data
