PURCHASING A CLOAK OR LONG CAPE
Purchasing a cloak or long cape for a special occasion is an expensive item. There are many consiceerations that should be taken into account. Quality of the item is very important. Quality issues include:
-Overall size and length of the garment: is it full enough and is it long enough to feel elegant? Carefully check the quantity of the fabric used to make the garment. Also, check the length against your measurements before purchasing
-Fabric content - Make sure the fabric is of a heavy enough weight to "flow" properly. Also, consider weather or not you would like it lined. An unlined cloak needs to be smooth on the underside to prevent bunching of the garment. You want the cloak to flow nicely.
-Care - Does the maker give garment care instructions? Usually a lined cloak needs to be dry-cleaned. Hand or maching washing can make a substantial difference of the cost of the garment over time.
-Quality - Are some of the seams reinforced for more wear? Is the clasp strong enough? These will impact the usefullness of the garment and durability.
Finally, make certain the color is one that you love!
