Buying on Ebay
Pictures: If the seller does not have multiple images of product. Don't buy! Ask to see detailed photos of item. Stay away from sellers that use stock photo.
Price: If the seller has buy it now for more than half off the best online retailer, you know somethings up.
Rating: Check to see if seller has sold the headphones/ audio products before and what his feedback is. Stay away from new buyers/ 0 feedback.
Location: If your from Asia, thats a pretty good indication that the product may be a counterfeit.
Response: Ask the seller about the authenicity. If you get no response, or response is a jumble of "translator" English, thats a good indication of a sure knock-off too.
Conclusion
If your looking for a sweet pair of headphones to impress your friends, try your luck on Ebay. Might end up with a fake, might not. If your spending more than $30 your getting ripped off.
If you don't mind spending $30 - $40 more for a great pair of headphones then look for a authorized online retailer. Don't pay more than $90. Look around major online retailers.
Due to an ever changing counterfeit market place, knockoffs are becoming harder and harder to tell apart. Hopefully this will give you some insight in purchasing your headphones. Shop Smart:
