Sony PSP - back from the dead - "Reviving a Bricked PSP"

You updated your Sony PSP online abd rebooted it, and now it's dead?
A bad flash can be described as
- the PSP powering on
- no display
- no sound.
This is what we call "a Bricked PSP"

As we all know Sony typically doesn't cover you from a bad flash on your psp.
Up until recently, there wasn't much you could do, other than calling sony and sending it in for a replacement motherboard. This I beleive runs about $150.

There will soon be a product (slated for late August, 2006) on the market that will allow you to revive your dead PSP. It essentially is another eeprom chip, just as your original PSP has, but this bypasses the dead one. Sort of  like a "daughtercard" without having to unsolder the original eeprom. I believe the product will cost about $90 US, and can be installed yourself, without sending it out for repair.

Remember if you flash your psp:
- fully charge your battery first
- make sure you are running on AC power using your original Sony PSP AC Adapter
- do not flash your PSP with any firmware that is not obtained from Sony itself.
