In our first guide, we offered 7 secrets to exploring your Drag personna and the response was overwhelming. We hope that those "tounge in cheek," helpful hints carried you far and maybe over the rainbow to a stage near you. However, now that you have entered the land of false eyelashes, dermablend, rooted hairdo's and such, I hope that the spotlight you now crave is following you and not falling on you! With this in mind, we would like to continue exploring what you can do to make your journey a successful one.
First, evaluate where you are on the drag-o-meter. Exactly what are you trying to achieve with you current look. Is your make-up so heavy that you look like a clown instead of "looking good and feeling gorgeous." The internet has a wealth of sites and information on products to help with assuring that your all important base foundation is set to accept accompanying eyeshadows and such. This was the number one question that I received. If you can't find the right complexion for you, try mixing and matching as a remedy. Even ageless supermodel, Iman admits that she had problems finding foundation to put on her flawless mug. Don't fret, I've discovered some interesting products on E-bay to assist with this as well. Check them out and experiment to the fulliest.
Secondly, accessories, accessories, accessories. Need I say more. I believe that finding great jewlery, scarfs or even head gear can help continue the illusion of a beautiful you. I don't subscribe to the "more is more" school of thought, unless you are in a fierce pageant competition where every one goes for the jugular. Those pageant system contest can be just bruttle on the pyshic, self-esteem, not to mention your purse. So finding a special bobble or bangle, at bargain prices could help ease the pain of not bringing home the crown. I recommend special finds and gaudy little diddy's as auction items to make things all better. Remember my mantra, whatever you do make sure "you are wearing the item and the item is not wearing you!"
Our third, and most important message to each of you embracing your concept of lovliness, is that you continue to create dispsite setbacks, missteps or callbacks. Whether that visage is entertaining audiences, performace artist, just drag or experiencing your version of Trans-America, life over the rainbow can be a wonderful pleasure depending on what you make of it. If you are stopped by the fashion police, take the criticism ticket to heart and grow from it, not detered by it. Everyone has a jumping off place somewhere and learning what works for you is your best ally. E-bay items can be a valuable asset and resource. Luckily you will find a special someone, as I have, who shares in your creativity. As I close and get our my hanky, consider the adage..."if blue birds fly, then why... oh why can't I." I'll be watching my pretties and don't let a spotlight fall on you!
