I have been searching for a second Wii for my sister for her birthday (it's not until much later, but with the Wii I don't want to wait until the last minute), and I looked on ebay to see if there are any fair deals. These auctions are nowhere near being fair, the "resellers" *cough* scalpers *cough* love to trick and misonform people in any way, shape or form. As I perused through the auctions, almost every single console auction said "Nintendo Wii NIB + 14 GAMES + extra Remote!!! Buy now!!!!!!" and it's usually around $380-$450 USD (that's just sick to charge that much).
Well here's the deal, the "14 games" are actually just 2 games, one is Wii Sports (already included with the console) which has 5 games in it (Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing), and then there's Wii Play which comes with a FREE remote for $49.99 USD which includes these 9 mini-games (Shooting gallery, Find a Mii, Pose a Mii, Billiards, Cow racing, Tank Shooting, Air Hockey, Table Tennis and Fishing). I'm just so sick of these Sellers just manipulating the information! But the sellers are not the only ones at fault here, it's the buyers too! Keep in mind that if buyers stopped buying from them, the prices would not be so high and the Wii would actually be in stock. With the demand being so high, the sellers see it as easy profit as they did with the XBox360. The total price of the console (console being $249.99 USD) with Wii play comes to $299.98 USD, making these auction way too overpriced for what they're offering.
For the sake of being smart, which I know everyone is, most people have just given up and succumbed to buying off of ebay for 27%-50% markup from the intended price which is again, $299.98 USD. I know if it were me, I would sell the console for the exact same price I bought it for + shipping (which should cost no more than 10-20 dollars at the most). I mean, who are we to say that others can't have Nintendo's Wii Console for the intended price of $249.99 USD? People who make money off of ebay for a living, that's who. But remember it's not just their fault, it's also the buyers fault for paying through the teeth to get one of these. I refuse to buy a Wii of ebay, and I think everybody else should boycott buying a Wii off of ebay as well.
