When the skycaddie technology first came to the market, I totally rejected the concept as too much technology making the game unfair.  Then I started discussing it with a few of my long time golfing buddies and it became clear the skycaddie technology only gives you distance information, which is already on the sprinkler heads and other yardage markers.  So I bought the SG2.

Initial setup and learning to use the SG2 was easy, although I did have some difficulty with the Skycaddie website.  I downloaded most of our local courses and even managed to set up one of our local courses, which was not listed on the skycaddie course listings.  It was pretty easy.  After you buy your skycaddie device, you have to subscribe to one of skycaddie's membership/subscription plans.  I purchased the most expensive plan for about $50 per year because I travel often.  That plan permits me access to all of the course worldwide.

Now the best part!  I've been using the SG2 since 2006 in the USA and the UK.  I can tell you without any doubt, the SG2 has saved me many strokes, especially when you are out of the fairway and there are no yardage markers in sight (that's golf).  Since I walk, by the time I set my bag down, the SG2 has registered the distance and I save alot of time not worrying about finding a yardage marker or pacing off a distance.  It definately speeds up play.  The SG2 does not take batteries, but requires recharging after four or five rounds of golf.

Interestingly, those who play with me in carts, often wait for me to get to them for the distance.  Go figure!  I can also tell you after playing with the SG2, when I play a course that is not on their list or set up in my SG2, you really notice the difference!  I believe it is a good investment for the serious golfer.
