If you're a pet owner, especially a dog, it is likely your pet has had or will have an encounter with a skunk.  Well, as you know, that is one odor that is unmistakable and seems to last forever!  Our dog had an encounter with a skunk last night and the odor was unreal.  I called the vet to see what could be done about the odor on her.  Here's the formula for washing the dog to remove the odor that the vet gave me:

1 quart Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 Cup Baking Soda, 1 teaspoon Dawn Dish Detergent

Mix in 5 gallon bucket of water and wash the dog.  (You might have to repeat if the odor is extremely strong). Then, RINSE VERY WELL !  I questioned whether this simple formula would remove such an odor --- but IT WORKED after one bath -- the dog is much happier now !
